Volkswagen Kombi

The Kombi worked for a living long before it became an icon, and Australians used them harder than most, as delivery vans, farm utes, campers and the unofficial vehicle of the surf coast. Split screen models lead the market and command serious money in any honest condition, bay window cars offer the same character with easier ownership, and the utility and camper variants have followings all their own. Many of these vans were assembled locally during Volkswagen's Australian manufacturing years, a detail worth documenting where it applies. Original survivors, faithful restorations and personalised builds all belong here, exactly as they always have.
