This 2016 BMW (F82) M4 Competition has a suite of track-focused modifications curated by a single owner since new. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine that produces a dyno-tested 454kW (608hp). It sends power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The odometer currently shows 41,975km. BMW’s unveiling of the M4 coupe took the automotive world by surprise. The model split from the familiar BMW M3 with a unique two-door body and subsequently carved out a new nameplate for the brand. It’s the high-performance version of the regular 4 Series sports coupe but shares only 50 per cent of its components – the rest are bespoke pieces designed to make the M4 a hard-edged sports car.

Its twin-turbo six-cylinder engine initially drew criticism compared to the sonorous 4.0-litre V8 predecessor, though M fanatics quickly realised the tuning potential of the S58 inline-six engine. In 2016, BMW introduced the M4 Competition variant that brought more power, lightweight sports seats, new springs and dampers, and gloss black trim for the exterior. It also addressed the non-Competition M4’s notoriously snappy handling characteristics – the M4 Competition is much easier to handle at the limit. In addition to a host of aftermarket parts, this M4 Competition was well-optioned straight from the factory. It’s painted in BMW Individual colour Azurite Black metallic and pairs a black leather-upholstered cabin. It was also fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes from the factory.

The owner has added a CSF water-to-air intercooler, Eventuri air intakes, carbon-fibre engine cover, track-spec suspension strut towers, and a Stage 3 tune from Fitzgerald Racing. It also has the front cats removed. It rides on a set of 20-inch ‘Style 666’ alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. This M4 Competition was built in May 2016 delivered new to Australia. It is a one-owner car having completed just over 40,000km. The car has been set up for track use and the last service was completed by a BMW specialist in April 2024. In 2019 the vehicle had repair work carried out by authorised BMW repairer Charlie Battisti after low speed impact with the pit exit wall at Sandown.

Externally, this M4 Competition appears in good order for its age. The Azurite Black metallic paint contains sparkle in the sunlight and no obvious scratches are seen in the finish. However, the paint shows significant holograms that could be rejuvenated with a thorough detail. There are some scuff marks noted around the side mirrors and front bar; commensurate with this car’s age. The carbon-fibre roof appears lacquered and shiny. Some kerb rash is identified on the alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, this M4’s leather upholstery has been cared for and it shows minimal wear and tear throughout.

The seats appear with no scuffs and retain an original shape. There is no obvious scuffing or stains seen in the black leather. Slight scuffing is noted on the second-row seat base, while the passenger’s vanity mirror is shattered. Instrumentation and switchgear around the centre console presents in good order. This car will come with all accompanying documentation and booklets in addition to two keys.
