This 2011 Ducati 1198 SP is an as-new Italian sport bike with just two owners from delivery and a striking colour combination. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1198cc four-valve, four-stroke engine which sends 127kW and 132Nm to the rear wheel. This bike has a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently displays 5,443km. The Ducati 1198 succeeded the popular 1098 in 2009 and was produced for a short three-year production run. It shared several elements with its predecessor, including styling. However, the Italian marque issued several upgrades including more power, increased torque, restyled wheels, lighter fairings and headlights, and a brand-new traction control system.

Of course, Ducati trademarks such as the single-sided swingarm remained. Improvements in lightweight componentry allowed an impressive 200kg wet weight. For the 2011 model year (this bike’s production date), two variants were offered: the 1198 and 1198 SP. As ever, the 1198 was popular in motorsports, and Ducati rider Carlos Checa won both the driver’s and manufacturer’s titles during the 2011 Superbike World Championship season. Apart from the limited-edition 1198R Corse, this 1198 SP is the ultimate evolution of the 1198 family. Considering it was manufactured in the same year as Ducati’s 2011 WorldSBK win, this low-odometer example could present a strong investment opportunity.

Originally from factory in Ducati Red and red-coated frame this bike now fitted with new fairings finished in black with a silver central stripe, this Ducati 1198 SP stands out from the crowd. It features a black suede seat and gold componentry for the Ohlins suspension. There are no major aftermarket modifications but this bike does feature a Termignoni exhaust and aftermarket front mirrors. It continues to ride on a set of Marchesini forged wheels with red pinstriping. They’re wrapped in Pirelli tyres. This bike was manufactured in Italy and delivered new through City Ducati in August 2011.

It has had two owners since new and comes with a full complement of supporting documentation. While in the current owner’s care, the bike has been maintained by Brad the Bike Boy. As shown in the photos, this bike’s last service was in 2020. There are said to be no known mechanical issues. Even 13 years after this Ducati left the factory, this 1198 SP still presents in immaculate order. The black-painted front end shows no obvious points of stone chipping, while the fairings are undamaged and show no sign of scratches.

The carbon components are lacquered to a shine and the Termignoni exhaust is only slightly tinged. No wear and tear is noticeable on the suede seat. A sizeable collection of spare parts will be supplied with this Ducati including all original factory red fairings and exhaust components. It will also come with manuals, paddock stand, a trickle charger, a bike cover, and a Puma backpack.
