This 2009 Ducati 1089R Bayliss Limited Edition is a low-mileage, enthusiast-owned super bike, designed to commemorate Troy Bayliss’s World Superbike Championship win and career. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1198cc four-valve, four-stroke engine which sends 134kW and 134Nm to the rear wheel. This bike has a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently displays 3639km. The Ducati 1098 is a sports bike produced by the Italian firm for a short three-year model run in three distinct versions: the 1098, 1098S, and 1098R. It features styling from Ducati’s designer Giandrea Fabbro, including horizontal-set headlights, an unintegrated exhaust system, and the trademark single-sided swingarm.

At the time of the bike’s release it famously had the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any production bike ever made. Its performance was utilised in motorsport, specifically the World Superbike Championship, where it achieved success ridden by Australian Troy Bayliss. To commemorate Bayliss’s 2008 title, Ducati released 500 examples of the Bayliss Limited Edition painted in his colour scheme and featuring a carbon-fibre exhaust heat shield. It also features the five-spoke Marchesini wheels from Bayliss’ competition bike. Painted in white and red with Australian flag details, this Bayliss Special Edition is a head-turner whether on the road or on static display.

It features a black seat and black wheels. Light modifications include a polished 70mm Termignoni exhaust with carbon-fibre mufflers and a double-bubble screen. The bike rides on a set of 17-inch wheels wrapped in new Pirelli tyres. This bike was manufactured in Italy and delivered new to Australia. It was purchased by the current owner in 2013, though documentation and books were not included with its transfer.

It is numbered 347 out of 500 total examples. It has just had a major service in May 2024, including belts replaced by Blair Barrie. It is said to be in very good mechanical condition with respect to its low mileage. Presentation-wise, this Ducati 1098R appears in showroom condition. The white and red paintwork glosses nicely in the light and no imperfections are seen in the finish.

Even carbon-fibre elements show without scratches or chips. There is no obvious deformation of the seat. No instances of stone chips or road rash is noted on the bike’s nose, screen or fairings. No additional documentation is supplied with this bike. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding.

All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This bike is not currently registered. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and is not recorded as written off or stolen.
