This 2005 BMW (E46) M3 Convertible is an Australian-delivered, three-owner example which shows in unmodified condition. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.2-litre inline-six-cylinder engine which outputs 252kW/365Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The odometer of this car shows only 88,901km. The BMW M3 is one of the automotive world’s best known sports cars and has earned considerable respect in motorsports competition. The third-generation E46 M3 was introduced to the Australian market in 2001 and added newfound capabilities for everyday use. The M3 Convertible followed in 2003 with its soft-top folding roof. But while it achieved new luxurious highs with a sumptuous leather interior, a high-end sound system, and a techy infotainment system – it wasn’t at the expense of sports ability.

The E46 M3 features a singing naturally-aspirated inline-six engine, perfect handling qualities, and strongholds of grip from its rear-driven chassis. BMW entered the E46 M3 GTR version into the American Le Mans GT category where it won in 2001. Nowadays, the E46 M3 is widely appreciated as being among the best-driving BMWs of all time. Painted in the quintessential E46 M3 specification of Silver Grey metallic over a black leather interior, this E46’s colour combination is easily appreciated. It features a black soft-top roof and shows no aftermarket modifications since new. The car rides on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tyres. This M3 was built in August 2005 by BMW in Munich, Germany and delivered new through BMW Brookvale. The current owner is the third overall and has held the vehicle the last 10 years.

The car has seen very little use in the last five years. Maintenance has been completed through official and specialist workshops such as BM Pro in Peakhurst (NSW). The last major repair was a new alternator 18 months ago – since then it has had an oil change in October 2022 and a new battery in May 2023. The owner notes the automatic roof movement works perfectly. Exterior condition shows to a very high standard – considered care has been taken in the presentation of this M3 Convertible. The grey paintwork appears with no scratches or chips, aside from subtle scratches on the boot. Metallic flakes shine in the sunlight and no swirl marks are seen. The owner notes the front and rear bars have been resprayed due to stone chipping.

Its soft-top roof pulls taut over the frame and no discolouration is seen in the fabric. Some miniscule scratches are seen on the rear left wheel; all others display without kerb rash. Inside the cabin this M3 presents in clean order. The black leather upholstery shows no creasing or cracks, while minimal scuffs are seen in the bolsters. Elements of the steering wheel grips are flaking and scuffs are seen on the outer ash tray cover. The media screen operates as normal, but is pixelated. The owner notes the rear-view mirror film needs changing. All accompanying documentation, tools, and a genuine leather steering wheel cover will be supplied with this car.
