This 2004 Mercedes-Benz (W203) C55 AMG is a well-maintained example that comes with consistent maintenance and that classic AMG exhaust note. Under its bonnet sits a naturally-aspirated 5.4-litre V8 engine that produces 270kW and 510Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed AMG-tuned automatic transmission. The odometer of this car shows 211,035km.   Following Mercedes-Benz’s acquisition of AMG in the 1990s, the sub-brand really started to find its feet in the early 2000s. The W203-generation C-Class was one of its first forays as an in-house performance arm.

The flagship model, at least initially, was the C32 AMG which featured supercharged V6 power. There was also a diesel AMG model, however, this version’s appeal was limited and it remains AMG’s only diesel-powered car. The W203 AMG was designed to compete with the BMW (E46) M3 and Audi (B4) RS4, but it wasn’t until the introduction of the V8-powered C55 AMG in 2005 where AMG really leapfrogged its competition. It featured several trickle-down technologies and components from more expensive models, such as pinching the same V8 as the previous-generation E-Class and borrowing the styling (and longer engine bay) from the CLK55 AMG. Today, it still stocks performance that can humble sports cars and prices have remained stable on the used market.   This car’s colour combination is quintessential of a 2000s-era Mercedes-Benz.

It wears silver metallic paint over a black leather interior. There are no major aftermarket modifications to take away from its original specification. However, the owner has fitted a modified exhaust. It rides on a set of 18-inch AMG alloy wheels wrapped in Nexen tyres.   Manufactured in May 2004 and delivered to its first owner in Melbourne, this C55 AMG was purchased by the current owner in 2023. It has been owned by approximately three people in total.

Prior to the current custodian, the car was serviced every 5,000km. The transmission control module was replaced in 2021 at a cost of $5,000. Significant works took place in 2023, including a new air mass sensor, new front suspension bushes, new coolant sensors, new battery, new water pump, oil seals and new drive belts. The most recent (minor) service was done in February 2025.   The exterior condition of this C55 AMG is excellent. The metallic silver paintwork shows with no obvious defects and strong reflections are seen under sunlight conditions.

Minor stone chips are noted on the front end. There are one or two small dents, but the most obvious imperfection is a scratch on the rear left door near the handle. There is some kerb rash damage noted on the wheels.   Inside, this car presents remarkably well for its age. The black leather upholstery appears without wear damage and no stains are seen on the leather. Likewise, no creases are seen on the bolsters.

The owner points towards minor grab handle wear on both front door panels. The centre stack shows no obvious damage and the carpeting is unstained. A short rattle can be heard from the air vents immediately after the air-con system starting, but this quickly subsides.   All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this vehicle including manuals and receipts. It’ll also come with two keys, original exhaust components, a tool kit, and tow bar.
