This 2000 Toyota Century (G50) is finished in Black 202 over a grey wool velour interior and shows 119,671 kilometres indicated. Powered by Toyota’s 5.0 litre 1GZ-FE V12 paired with an automatic transmission, the Century represents the pinnacle of Toyota’s engineering and refinement, built with an emphasis on comfort, durability and understated presence rather than outright performance.
Introduced in 1997, the second generation Century marked a significant step forward for Toyota’s flagship limousine. It became the first and only production Japanese V12, and every example was hand assembled with traditional craftsmanship techniques. Unlike Western luxury sedans, the Century prioritised silence, ride quality and rear seat comfort, with wool upholstery, lace curtains and soft-close features forming part of its signature character. Today, the G50 Century has developed a strong following outside Japan as a uniquely engineered alternative to European luxury sedans.
This example is the second owner since the car was imported into Australia. The current owner has owned the car for approximately one year and three months and has driven it sparingly, covering just under 2,000 kilometres during ownership, typically once or twice per month. Servicing has been carried out once by the owner, who is an aircraft engineer, and also by a mechanic in Melbourne. The original Japanese service books are present. Since ownership, the front passenger air suspension strut has been replaced.
The exterior presents honestly. There are a few light scratches around the car, most of which are expected to buff out, and a small touch-up from a scratch that occurred in Japan. A minor crack is present in one area of the front bumper. There is a very small rust spot near the rear windscreen, which has been treated with an aircraft-grade corrosion inhibitor and has not progressed. This area is only noticeable when pointed out. The paint is known to be particularly soft on these cars due to the nature of the finish. Alloy trim remains in great condition.
Inside, the grey wool velour interior presents well and retains the distinctive feel that defines the Century. The only noted issue is the front display screen, which remains functional but has begun to show lines forming; this does not affect the reverse camera image. All other interior functions are reported to operate correctly. Factory features such as automatic lace curtains remain in place. Aftermarket door courtesy lights have been fitted, and a Japanese parking card reader has been intentionally retained as part of the car’s history.
Mechanically, the car is reported to be in good order with no known faults, warning lights or required work. The V12 drivetrain is described as operating smoothly, consistent with the model’s reputation for refinement.
The Century is supplied with its factory tool kit, a new original wheel and spare tyre, its original brochure book, extensive paperwork, Japanese service books, an English-translated owner’s manual, a fitted car cover and a spares package.
