This 1999 Lotus Elise S1 is a factory right-hand drive example, extensively modified for track use and now powered by a Honda K20/K24 hybrid engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The car has travelled minimal kilometres since its full mechanical rebuild was completed in June 2024. The Series 1 Lotus Elise set the benchmark for lightweight performance in the late 1990s, with its bonded aluminium chassis and sub-700kg kerb weight. This particular example takes that philosophy further, combining motorsport-level engineering with the bulletproof reliability and power potential of Honda’s renowned K-series engine platform. The result is a stripped-back, track-focused machine capable of delivering serious performance while remaining road-registerable. The car was originally built in the UK for endurance racing, where it underwent a full Elise Motorsport body conversion, and was fitted with a T45 6-point roll cage, Cobra bucket seats, Sabelt harnesses, and supporting chassis upgrades. It was declared a Category D in April 2009 (minor repairable damage). The current owner purchased the car in November 2018, before importing and compliancing it in Australia in 2022. From 2022 to 2024, the car was mechanically overhauled by Precision Racing in Sydney and Morgan Park Performance Centre, with a brief to create a track-capable yet reliable road-registerable build. The engine is a freshly built K24A/K20 hybrid producing 236hp at the wheels, featuring Wiseco forged pistons, Manley H-beam rods, Prayooto Stage 4 cam, and a Type R oil pump, all backed by a machined K-series head. The engine management system has been upgraded to a MoTeC M130 GPA ECU with Level 3 logging, paired with a MoTeC C125 dash. A new motorsport-grade wiring harness, fuel system, and Bosch DBW throttle have also been installed. The car has a new starter motor and Antigravity lithium battery. The braking system has been overhauled with an EP Tuning Fast Road big brake kit (4-piston front, AP 2-piston rear) and the car rides on fresh Yokohama A050 tyres. Prior upgrades, believed to have been fitted by a previous owner, include S2 uprights, Nitron NTR40 dampers, Eliseparts rose-jointed toe links, a Pro Alloy 48L fuel tank, and an FIA dry break fuelling system. The seller notes the car is in excellent mechanical condition, with no known faults and minimal mileage since the build was completed in June 2024. Externally, the body shows paint and panel gap imperfections consistent with its former track use. A new windscreen and seals were fitted during the recommissioning process, and the interior and exterior have both been professionally detailed. Included in the sale are a carbon fibre rear diffuser, new right-hand door seal set & rear fender stone guards. These parts have not yet been fitted. No additional modifications have been made since the mechanical build, and the car remains as delivered post-overhaul. This Elise is a serious, track-ready car with professional componentry and documentation to match. With performance well beyond factory specification, Australian compliance, and road legality, it offers a rare blend of usability, lightweight chassis purity, and modern engine reliability.
