This 1998 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type RA V-Limited ‘555’ is a rare, rally-bred homologation special, finished in iconic Rally Blue with gold alloy wheels. Built in November 1998 (MY1999), it is powered by a turbocharged flat-four engine paired with a close-ratio manual transmission and all-wheel drive, with the odometer showing 68,744 kilometres.

Produced to celebrate Subaru’s World Rally Championship success, the V-Limited ‘555’ edition was limited to just 1,000 units, with this example identified as build number 0043. Featuring a commemorative ‘555 Subaru WRC Limited Edition’ plaque on the centre console, it represents one of the most focused and collectible variants of the GC8 generation.

The vehicle was imported to Australia in 2021 and has had one Australian owner prior to the current custodian, who has owned the car since July 2023. Original Japanese books are included, comprising the owner’s manual, maintenance notes and warranty/inspection record, which supports the car’s low mileage history.

Servicing has been carried out by RE Motorsports, a JDM specialist, with the most recent full service completed in September 2023. This included replacement of engine oil and filter, fuel filter, transmission and differential oils, power steering fluid and a cooling system flush, along with a full inspection. Since then the car has travelled approximately 380km, having been largely stored. A new battery was fitted in March 2025.

Mechanically, the car is reported to be in excellent condition with no faults or warning lights noted. The inspecting specialist described it as a clean, straight and genuine example.

Externally, the vehicle presents very well, with only minor stone chips consistent with age. The wheels and trim are in very good condition. Inside, the cabin is similarly well preserved, with the V-Limited blue suede and cloth seats in excellent condition and all electronics functioning as intended.

Based on the lightweight, competition-oriented Type RA platform, the RA V-Limited features a close-ratio gearbox, lightweight alloy bonnet, roof vent and Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD), along with an intercooler water spray system, STi carbon front brace, alloy rear brace and STi stainless steel exhaust.

Modifications include Cusco adjustable coilovers, a more aggressive rear LSD (with documentation referencing an STi R180 unit), a 22B-style front bar, and a remote alarm and GPS tracker fitted in 2023. The car otherwise remains true to its original character.

Included with the sale are two keys (including one original), alarm remotes, Japanese service and warranty books, owner’s manuals, recent service receipts, coilover documentation, LSD paperwork and a Subaru wheel brace.
