This 1996 Ducati 916 Biposto is a three-owner example which was delivered new in Australia and has recently been serviced. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 916cc four-valve, V-twin engine that produces 85kW and 91Nm. Power outputs are sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer of this bike currently shows 79,312km. Thought of as one of the most beautiful sports bikes of all time, the Ducati 916 is a purpose-built racer designed solely for motorsport. It featured an engine by renowned engineer Massimo Tamburini and utilised parts from its predecessor, the Ducati 888.

Crucially, the Ducati 916 was a smaller bike than its 888 predecessor and featured aggressive styling and a chrome-moly trellis frame. Compared to its contemporary rivals the Ducati 916 featured less outright power but had a more even torque spread. The special single-sided swingarm ensured quick wheel changes during races and the under-seat exhaust outlets ensured better aerodynamics. Upon its debut in 1994, the Ducati 916 took out numerous motorcycle magazines’ “Bike of the Year” awards. It is still appreciated to this day and clean examples are difficult to source.

Presenting in requisite Ducati Red with the appropriate period sponsorships emblazoned on the fairings, this 1996 916 Biposto still appears striking today. It features a black rider’s seat and a red leather passenger seat. The bike shows some modifications, including aftermarket fairings, anodised forks and clip-on bars, a carbon-fibre Termignoni exhaust and matching EPROM. It rides on a set of 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tyres. This bike was manufactured in Italy and delivered new through Ducati Gold Coast in October 2007.

It is now a three-owner example according to the seller. Initial servicing was performed by Ducati Gold Coast, before the subsequent owner moved maintenance to Moto One. The bike had an engine refresh performed in 2017 by DMOTO in Sydney, according to a previous owner. The most recent maintenance was a minor service undertaken by Blair Barrie. The external presentation of this bike is great, especially with respect to its age and mileage.

The aftermarket fairings show without obvious damage and the paintwork appears in glossy condition. There are some slight age-related marks around the bike and some small scuffs are noted on the carbon-fibre chain guard. However, overall condition is impressive. There is one small nick the passenger seat leather. This Ducati will come with all accompanying documentation including maintenance records and an owner’s manual.
