This 1993 Mercedes-Benz (W124) 320CE Convertible is an Australian-delivered car presenting in a tidy colour combination with a recent service. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.2-litre inline-six-cylinder engine with 162kW and 310Nm outputs. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently displays 184,585km. The Mercedes-Benz W124 was introduced in the mid-1980s as the German brand’s answer to the BMW E28 5 Series. It’s a mid-level executive car, but unlike the 5 Series, the W124 was offered in coupe and convertible body styles – which were officially designated “C124”.

The blocky Bruno Sacco design defines its 1980s era, but it was surprisingly one of the most aerodynamic shapes for its time. The W124 was designed to fill the gap between the entry-level W201 and the flagship S-Class, but many of the W124’s features were firsts for the brand – flip-folding rear headrests to improve vision and an eccentric single-arm windscreen wiper. These classically over-engineered parts were joined by sumptuous interior appointments and sturdy build quality inside the cabin. Mercedes-Benz owes much of its reputation for quality, refinement, and luxury to the W124. This example is painted dark blue and features a matching blue soft-top roof. Inside the cabin the car is upholstered with grey leather accented by woodgrain trim inserts.

It is said to be in completely original condition without aftermarket additions, though an Alpine head unit is seen in place of the original radio, and the rear tail-lights are mismatching. The car rides on a set of 15-inch Mercedes-Benz wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Turanza tyres. Built by Mercedes-Benz in Germany and delivered new to Australia, this Mercedes-Benz is reportedly a three-owner vehicle. However, the original books have been misplaced. The current owner took delivery of the vehicle in 2020 and has serviced the car through Brighton Motors. It was last serviced by Brighton Motors in February 2024.

This car’s exterior presentation shows in good order. The owner notes the car recently underwent a detail and polish, while tyres appear to be near new. Dark blue paintwork reflects sunlight nicely and no swirl marks or scratches are seen in the finish. There are some small stone chips seen on the bonnet and front bar, and paint chips are noted around the door handles and door edge. A paint scuff can be seen on the right-hand side mirror. No tears or stains are identified in the soft-top roof.

All four wheels present in fair order without major kerb rash. Inside the cabin this Mercedes-Benz appears in clean condition. The grey leather upholstery pulls taut over the seat frame and no stains are identified in the fabric. A nick in the left-side door panel leather is noted in the second row, while wear and tear is noted on the bolsters. There is no sun damage or cracking to the woodgrain inlays and the carpeting appears without stains. The seller notes the air-conditioning, window controls, and instrumentation all functions as intended.

No original documentation or booklets will be supplied with this car. As per Trading Garage’s Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage have completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research, they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This vehicle is currently registered in Victoria until 9/8/24. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
