This 1994 Bentley Continental R is an opulent grand tourer, which is presented in remarkably good condition and with relatively low mileage. Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 engine that develops 242kW (325hp). This power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer of this car displays 63,200 miles since new. The Bentley Continental R was introduced in the early 1990s and immediately marked a line in the sand between Bentley and Rolls-Royce. It was the first Bentley production car to have a standalone body – not shared with Rolls-Royce – since the 1960s, and the new nameplate also carved out a name for the brand thanks to some contentious boasts.

It was the fastest and most expensive Bentley to date, and it also happened to be the most expensive car in the world at its launch. The two-door grand tourer pays homage to the post-war Continental, but issued the ‘R’ suffix which stood for “roadholding”. The car’s surprise debut at the 1991 Geneva Motor Show took the automotive world by storm, with high-profile customers such as the Sultan of Brunei putting their names down for the model on the spot. Some say the Bentley Continental R was such a significant model for the brand, that it paved the way for a Volkswagen buyout. This highly-specified car is painted in Racing Green and selects a Magnolia and piped spruce hide interior. The car’s Connolly leather is offset by burr woodgrain interior panels.

It’s fitted with a limited-slip differential from new. Being one of just 76 cars built in Bentley’s Diamond Jubilee year, this car wears green badging. The car features no notable aftermarket modifications. It rides on a set of 17-inch Bentley alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone tyres. Manufactured by Bentley in Crewe, England with bodywork by Mulliner, this Continental R comes with an extensive history. It was first delivered through Jack Barclay Bentley in June 1993, before passing through three additional owners.

The fourth (and current) documented owner purchased the car and imported it to Australia in 2019. A list of maintenance is shown in the photos, though servicing has been completed by NBS Services in 2022. The external presentation of this Bentley Continental R appears in resplendent order. The deep green paintwork reflects light nicely, without swirls or holograms, while even the pinstriping appears unbroken. All exterior chrome and grilles show in great, polished condition. No panel or body damage is seen anywhere on the car.

The four wheels present cleanly without kerb rash. Inside, this bespoke interior appears in brilliant condition. The Connolly leather upholstery shows in great order without deformation and creases, while the green piping is unbroken. The woodgrain dashboard inserts retain a glossy finish and no scuffs are noted on the car’s leather panels. Chrome details and instrumentation show no wear and tear. Likewise, the headlining and carpeting appear without damage or wear.
