This 1992 Volkswagen Golf GTI Sportline – Karmann Cabriolet is a late-production Mk1 example featuring Recaro sports seats and BBS alloy wheels. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.8 litre inline four with a factory-rated output of 82 kW (110 hp), paired with a five-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels. The odometer currently shows 108,671 miles* TMU.
Introduced in 1979, the first-generation Golf Cabriolet was built by Karmann in Osnabrück and remained in production until 1993, outlasting the corresponding hatchback. Its folding fabric roof and fixed rollover hoop distinguished the four-seat convertible. Introduced for 1991, the Sportline added Recaro sports seats, BBS cross-spoke wheels and distinctive exterior detailing to the later Mk1 Cabriolet body.
Finished in red with a black folding soft-top, this example features black-centred BBS wheels, wheel arch extensions, side skirts, body-coloured bumpers, a front spoiler, a quad-headlamp grille and Sportline graphics. The right-hand-drive cabin has black leather-trimmed Recaro front seats with contrasting stitching and a matching rear bench. Equipment includes a leather-wrapped Volkswagen steering wheel and manual windows, while additions comprise a wood-finished gear knob, drilled metal pedals and an upgraded audio system with an Audison amplifier and additional speakers. A larger aftermarket exhaust tip is also fitted.
The seller advises that the Golf has been in their ownership for approximately five years. The photographed identification plate records VIN WVWZZZ15ZNK006402, with the N model-year code denoting 1992 and K identifying Osnabrück assembly. The supplied history also records an Australian import approval label dated September 2009.
The seller discloses small rust patches documented in the gallery, together with minor dents, paint chips and other cosmetic blemishes consistent with age and use.
Partial service history is reported by the seller to accompany the vehicle.
