This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL (R129) is an early V8-powered example presented with its full service books and having remained with its current owner for approximately four years. It is powered by a 5.0 litre naturally aspirated M119 V8 producing 240 kW (322 hp), paired with a four speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The odometer currently shows 199,160 km.

Introduced in 1989, the R129 represented a major generational change for Mercedes-Benz’s SL, replacing the long-running R107 with a substantially more sophisticated roadster. The 500 SL sat near the top of the range and combined the 32-valve M119 V8 with technologies including an automatically deploying rollover bar, multi-link rear suspension and an electro-hydraulically operated fabric roof. Early examples such as this retain the original 500 SL nomenclature before Mercedes-Benz changed the model designation to SL 500 during the 1990s.

Finished in dark blue over a cream interior, this example is pictured with its fabric roof lowered and rides on five-spoke alloy wheels. The seller describes the paintwork as presenting in excellent condition for its age. The electrically operated soft top currently moves forward into position at the windscreen, however the seller advises that the rear section does not lock into its final position and instead makes a clicking sound when attempting to engage.

The current owner has had the 500 SL for approximately four years. It is accompanied by its full service books, including the original service book.

According to the seller, no accident repairs or resprays have been carried out during their ownership.
