This 1989 Alpina B10 3.5/1 (BMW E34 535i) is a true one-of-a-kind car in Australia. It has enjoyed consistent maintenance and a cosmetic refurbishment in recent memory. Under its bonnet sits a non-turbo version of BMW’s legendary 3.5-litre inline-six-cylinder engine. In this specification, the Alpina B10 produces 136kW (182hp). This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer of this car shows 272,851km.

Alpinas are to BMW what Brabus is to Mercedes-Benz or what ABT is to Audi. The small German-based workshop took already fast versions of BMW models and tuned them to another level entirely. This Alpina B10 for sale is an early version that didn’t come with the bi-turbo engine, though it still outputs a healthy power bump over the regular E34 535i. Tweaks include Mahle pistons, a modified cylinder head, and reprogrammed electronics. Performance is comparable to the E34-generation M5, though the Alpina outputs more torque and comes with a lighter clutch. Other enhancements include special Bilstein dampers, legendary Alpina wheels, and a bespoke Alpina interior with Recaro seats and Momo steering wheel. The E34-generation is enjoying a resurgence to the limelight and unique examples like this Alpina car are expected to appreciate in value in years to come – even compared with the E34 M5.

This car pairs Diamantschwarz Metallic paintwork with a grey leather-upholstered cabin. This subtle specification is sure to find wide appeal with BMW fanatics. There are no obvious modifications included with this car, aside from an Alpine Bluetooth head unit. Its silver Alpina stripe package matches its set of 17-inch Alpina wheels. These are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Manufactured by BMW in Germany and delivered new to Australia in April 1989, this Alpina comes with scarce information regarding its history. The car is currently owned by a prominent BMW collector and it has recently had a cosmetic overhaul and repaint in its original colour scheme.

The current owner purchased the vehicle from another Alpina collector. This example has been used for magazine features including a recent comparison with an E34 M5 by Unique Cars. This car’s exterior condition is presented to a very high standard, with respect to its respray a few years ago. The black paintwork shows no points of imperfection and the glassy finish still holds strong reflections under lights. Its unique stripe package continues unbroken, while exterior components such as the front and rear spoiler remain in good condition. No rim damage or paint flaking is noted on the four alloy wheels. Inside, this Alpina shows in similarly clean condition despite its mileage.

The grey leather seats retain a good shape and next to no creasing is seen on the bolsters. The headlining and carpeting presents without stains and scuffs. No marks are seen on the dashboard and instrumentation. There is minimal additional documentation to share with this car. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This vehicle is registered in Victoria under a club permit.

There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is recorded as written off in 2004 and inspected in 2005 but shows no reports of being stolen.
