This 1988 BMW Alpina C2 2.7 is an Australian delivered example, converted to Alpina specification by Bavarian Motorsport Australia, the exclusive Alpina distributor for Australia, and accompanied by an extensive documented history from new. Power comes from the 2.7-litre inline six (143kW/192hp), paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer reads 218,334 kilometres.

The Alpina C2 2.7 represents one of the most focused interpretations of the E30 platform produced during the model's production run. Where BMW's own M3 pursued outright performance through a high-revving four-cylinder engine and motorsport-derived engineering, Alpina's approach with the C2 2.7 was characterised by refinement — a bored and stroked version of the standard 2.5-litre six producing broader torque and a more fluid driving character, combined with chassis tuning, aerodynamic bodywork, and interior appointments that distinguished it clearly from the standard car. Alpina conversions carried their own chassis numbering and were recognised by the German motor vehicle authorities as manufacturer-built vehicles in their own right, a distinction that underpins the C2 2.7's enduring collector appeal. Genuine, documented Australian examples are rarely offered.

This example is finished in Blue Cirrus, the factory delivery colour, with Alpina gold contour striping sourced directly from Walloth & Nesch GbR in Germany in 2016. The interior features grey cloth upholstery, an Alpina three-spoke steering wheel imported from Walloth & Nesch GbR in 2016, and the original Alpina instrumentation. The car rides on the correct Alpina cross-spoke alloy wheels. The genuine Alpina front spoiler was also sourced from Walloth & Nesch GbR and fitted during the same period.

Supplied new through Geoff Brady BMW, Glen Waverley, and first registered on 12 July 1988, the car was sold to its second owner through Brisbane BMW in July 1989 and serviced continuously at authorised BMW dealers throughout its Queensland ownership, with records at Brisbane BMW, Fortitude Valley, from new through to over 135,000 kilometres, supplemented by servicing at The Performance Centre, South Brisbane, and Continental Car Care Centre, Capalaba. In February 1993 the car was converted to Alpina C2 2.7 specification by Bavarian Motorsport Australia Pty Ltd, trading as the exclusive Alpina Australia distributor, at a cost of $10,000, with the invoice signed by Managing Director Imre G. Szakall. The Alpina conversion documentation, factory Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH+Co. front spoiler homologation certificate, and original BMW service books are all retained. GLT Car Centre, Capalaba, replaced the timing belt, water pump, and associated items in August 2001 at 193,888 kilometres.

The car subsequently moved to Victoria, where the current ownership undertook a comprehensive programme of mechanical recommissioning at The 4WD Workshop, Seaford, and Southern BM, Moorabbin, between late 2024 and early 2025. This included a full engine rebuild with reconditioned head, new pistons with Teflon-coated skirts, ARP head studs, new bearings and gaskets throughout, flywheel machining, and clutch assembly at a cost of $12,930, followed by a custom EPROM tune on the Dyno Dynamics dynamometer producing 169.4hp at the wheels, new higher-flow injectors, and Motronic ECU tuning at a cost of $8,982. A bespoke stainless steel dual outlet exhaust system was fabricated to the original specification, and the gearbox was reconditioned with a new thrust bearing, at a combined cost of $5,309. Southern BM carried out engine reinstallation and associated works. A roadworthy certificate was issued by BHM Automotive, Moorabbin, in March 2025.

The seller advises the car presents well throughout consistent with its age and history. The Blue Cirrus paintwork is the original factory colour. The grey cloth interior is reported to be in good order.

This BMW Alpina C2 2.7 will be sold with the original BMW service books, the original Bavarian Motorsport Australia Alpina conversion invoice, factory Alpina homologation documentation, Walloth & Nesch parts invoices, the 4WD Workshop dyno sheet, a comprehensive collection of service invoices spanning the car's history from new, and the current roadworthy certificate.
