This 1987 Toyota LandCruiser BJ74 is a classic off-road 4x4 with a recent service on its driveline and suspension, and comes with a collection of spare parts. Under its bonnet sits a turbocharged 3.4-litre four-cylinder engine that churns out 89kW and 217Nm. These outputs are sent to a five-speed manual transmission with dual-range gearing. The odometer of this car currently displays 248,403km. The Toyota LandCruiser is world-renowned for being an unstoppable 4x4. Sold in countless countries for well over half a century, the LandCruiser has gone through several generations, many sub-variants, and the nameplate continues on sale to this day. This enviable reputation was built upon the LandCruiser J40 Series which was introduced in 1960 and earned praise for being rugged, dependable, and easy to work on.

However, by the mid-1980s it was beginning to show its age. Its replacement was the LandCruiser J70 Series, of which the BJ74 is a subvariant. The J70 satisfied the needs of all kinds of markets – Australian miners in the outback, suburban American families, and safari tour guides in South Africa. The J70 offered multiple body styles, wheelbase lengths, and engines – created at a time when customisation and choice was king. This BJ74 is painted in Night Blue metallic and specifies a grey cloth-upholstered cabin. The rear fibre-reinforced canopy is painted white for a clean two-tone combination. A Sony touchscreen head unit (with reverse camera) is used in place of the original radio.

The car runs on an original set of 16-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler A/T and Terrafirma rugged-terrain tyres. Manufactured by Toyota and delivered new to the Japanese market, this car has been owned by three Australians since being imported to the country. The seller has owned the vehicle for just under six months. The most recent servicing has been completed by a previous owner in Adelaide, who had the car serviced with new hoses and belts, plus a complete Pedders suspension upgrade. Relevant importation documents from Queensland and South Australian authorities will be provided. It is described as being in A1 mechanical condition, though the front fog lights aren’t connected and the exhaust system is loose. This car presents in very good condition for its age and mileage.

The Night Blue metallic paint is all original and produces strong reflections in the sunlight. The chrome bumpers glean with a shine, and the white rear canopy shows minimal points of wear and tear. Even the badging and stickers display in good order. Minor scuffs can be seen on the side mirrors and the owner notes a dent in the driver’s door. Small scratches can be seen on the wheels, especially around the hubs. Inside, this LandCruiser has been kept in great condition. The fabric seats appear without stains and the carpeting shows no obvious scuffs or wear.

There is no noticeable deformation in the seats in either the first or second rows. However, a small tear is noted in the driver’s side seat base. Door panelling shows no scuffs or stains. All relevant documentation and booklets will be supplied with this car. It will also come with a full set of five chrome-split rims, spare parts, and the original head unit. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars.

This car is registered in South Australia until 25/11/25. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
