This 1987 BMW (E30) M3 appears in beautiful condition featuring upgraded wheels, a Sport Evolution steering wheel, and up-to-date maintenance. It is powered by a bigger 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that sends power to the rear wheels. This car is fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently states 82,445km. The BMW E30 M3 needs no introduction. It is simply one of the most iconic cars of all time and it set the worldwide standard for sports sedans. The E30 M3 was a homologation special in order for BMW to race in the Deutsche Touring Masters championship and was based off the E30 3 Series.

A host of changes were introduced to a regular 3 Series to transform it into a road-going race car. It only shared the bonnet and roof with the regular 3 Series – every other body panel was made bespoke for the M3. Aerodynamics plays an important role in the M3’s track capabilities, with a pronounced front splitter to cut through the air and a big rear wing to keep the car glued to the track. It has a drag coefficient of just Cd=0.33. The ‘S14’ engine was comprised of the head from an S38 six-cylinder and the engine block from the M10 four-cylinder. The E30 M3 raced in various international motorsport, including Australia’s Group A championship where it dominated Mount Panorama.

Kitted in the quintessential E30 M3 colour combination of Diamantschwarz Metallic over a black leather interior, this example is a BMW aficionado’s dream. Subtle modifications introduced on this car include a Sport Evolution steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara and its set of aftermarket wheels. It also stocks a bigger 2.5-litre engine compared to the regular E30 M3. Currently fitted to the car is a set of 17-inch DPE wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE003 tyres. Built in Munich, Germany and delivered new to Japan, this car has been owned by multiple BMW enthusiasts. It was imported to Australia in 2010 and has been passed on to at least two other owners in the years since.

The current owner has held the vehicle since 2022. The car has had thorough servicing and mechanical upkeep at BMW specialists, including an oil and filter service in early February 2025. The car has been restored prior to the last two owners and has benefitted from a more recent paint correction and ceramic coating. The car has been featured multiple times in magazines such as Unique Cars. The exterior condition of this E30 M3 is fantastic for its age. The black metallic paint flakes nicely in the sunlight and no imperfections or paint chips are noted. There are no scratches or stone chips present on the front end.

Exterior plastics present without wear and tear, and the black front grille hasn’t faded. There is no sign of kerb rash damage on the wheels. Inside, this M3’s condition has been well preserved. The black leather surrounding the seats and door panels shows no major scuffing or tears, while the dash fascia appears in good condition. The car has a replacement Pioneer cassette radio head unit fitted in place of the original. Some minor creasing and fade is noted on the front seat bolsters. The sunroof appears with minor discolouration, though the carpets are unmarked of scuffs and stains.

All accompanying booklets, manuals, service invoices, and magazine features will be provided with this car. It will also come with the original set of wheels.
