This 1986 Jaguar XJS V12 is a Hong Kong-delivered example which has sat proudly as part of a car collection in Victoria for the past 20 years. Power is supplied by a naturally-aspirated 5.3-litre V12 engine. This power is sent through a three-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The odometer currently displays 107,200km. The Jaguar XJS is the revered British marque’s longest-running nameplate spanning 20 years from 1975 until 1996.

Built as a luxury grand tourer, the XJS was available in either fixed-roof or convertible body styles and the top-specification examples were equipped with a new High-Efficiency V12 engine. Its streamlined design notably featured eye-catching, elongated styling with unique rear buttresses behind the rear window. There were three distinct iterations over the 20-year production run, with the second-generation finding international success on the various touring circuits. Tom Walkinshaw Racing entered a team of XJS racers into European Touring Car racing, while a car was also entered into Group A racing in Australia. Painted in a slate blue metallic colour, this XJS features a body-coloured roof and a grey leather-upholstered interior.

The outside of the car is adorned by chrome detailing and the cabin features woodgrain trim inserts. There appears to be no aftermarket modifications to this car aside from a Kenwood head unit with CD stacker in the boot. It remains painted in its original colour combination and the car rides on a set of 15-inch Jaguar alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres. Manufactured by Jaguar in Coventry, England and exported new to Hong Kong, this Jaguar has been in Australia for the more than 20 years. The current owner took delivery in 2003 and it has since sat as part of a collection, clocking-up just 25,000km in the last two decades.

The current custodian had the vehicle serviced with Jag Ayre in Clayton, VIC before moving maintenance to Dukes Automotive in Kensington, VIC. Regular servicing has taken place in addition to a rebuilt brake system, reconditioned A/C, steering rack, fuel injectors, and new expansion tank. The owner notes the fuel gauge is currently broken and the cruise control does not work. On the exterior this Jaguar XJS presents in clean and honest condition. Paintwork shows no obvious loss of colour or gloss, while the chrome continues to shine in the light.

This car has been resprayed 25 years ago. There are areas of paint cracking around the bodywork and there are instances of touch-ups seen around wheel guards. The owner notes a parking dent in the passenger door, scratches around the plastic bumpers, and a touch-up on the bonnet’s leading edge. Wheels show with some kerb rash and scuffs. Inside the cabin this car presents well.

The grey leather upholstery holds its original shape but some colour wear is beginning to show, and crease marks are seen in the fabric. Woodgrain and chrome trim appears in fair order for its age, while minimal stains are seen in the carpeting. Some damage is noted around controls and instruments, but no cracks in the dash are observed. All accompanying receipts and documentation – but no original service manual – will be supplied.
