This 1986 BMW (E30) 325is is an enthusiast-owned example of BMW’s iconic E30 3 Series, complete with a full ownership history and comprehensive service records. Under its bonnet sits a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre inline-six-cylinder engine which develops 125kW and 222Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed transmission. The odometer currently displays 297,630km. The most special and well-regarded BMW E30 variant is of course, the E30 M3. However, as a homologation special, BMW only offered the unique E30 M3 in left-hand-drive markets.

The high-performance solution for other markets around the world was the E30 325is, also known as the M325i in New Zealand, where this car hails from. It runs a close-ratio five-speed Getrag gearbox, an LSD, equips unique Bilstein shock absorbers, 15mm lower springs, and a thicker rear roll bar to prevent understeer. Stylistically, it features a special body kit, BMW’s shadowline window treatment, a discreet rear spoiler, M Tech steering wheel, and sports seats. While not the full-blown M-fettled E30 M3, the E30 M325i stands alone as one of the most desirable E30 versions and equips a strong six-cylinder engine where the M3 used a small four-cylinder. This E30 is painted Polaris Silver metallic and specifies a grey cloth interior. It is the earlier M Tech 1 version which was produced in limited numbers.

It features dark pinstriping down the side of the car as well as the factory sunroof option. The car equips lowering springs. It rides on a set of period-correct 14-inch ‘basketweave’ wheels wrapped in Michelin tyres. Manufactured by BMW in Germany and delivered new to New Zealand, this E30 comes with a complete ownership history. The seller states each owner has either been a collector or enthusiast. It was imported to Australia in 2000.

Servicing/maintenance has been completed by outfits including Blue Peter Motors and Men@Work Exhausts. It is said to run in great condition. Exterior bodywork appears in fine condition throughout, however smaller signs of wear and tear do show this car’s age and mileage. The silver paint still holds a nice shine in the light, though stone chipping is noted on the front end. Black plastic trims and bumpers show signs of wear, while the underside of the front bar has scrape damage. Scratches are seen on the passenger side mirror.

Small chips are noted around the fuel filler and paint imperfections are seen around the rear badge. All four wheels appear in fine condition without noticeable kerb rash. Inside the cabin this E30 is in good order. The sports seats continue to hold a good shape and the fabric appears without rips or obvious fade. Dash components and instrumentation shows no undue wear. The door panel inserts, headlining, and carpeting exhibit no major stains.

One fabric stain is seen on the rear seat backrest. All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this car.
