This 1985 Porsche 928 S is a locally-delivered car that sports striking blue paint. Under the bonnet lies a naturally-aspirated 4.7-litre V8 engine that produces 207kW (278hp). This car is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently states 309km. However, the instrumentation is suspected to be faulty. The Porsche 928 never really gained the foothold its designers envisioned. It was meant to be the next best thing in Porsche’s line-up following the then-dated 911 sports car.

Featuring a larger 4.7-litre V8 engine and a longer wheelbase, the 928’s grand touring capabilities were marketed heavily. The car was revealed at the 1977 Geneva Motor Show and although the public was impressed by its V8 engine, the refinement, its luxuriousness, and the performance, it was simply deemed too dissimilar to the 911 and what Porsche came to represent. In any case, Porsche continued making the 928 until 1995 in various guises. Since then, the Porsche 928 has laid low in terms of Porsche collectability. However, it is now enjoying a resurgence to the limelight alongside the legendary 911. Painted in Royal Blue on the outside and paired with a blue leatherette interior, this bold 928 specification still looks sharp today.

There are minimal aftermarket modifications, though a previous owner has fitted Axis speakers, a Pioneer head unit, and a replacement gear shifter. The original 16-inch wheels come wrapped in Toyo/Rapid tyres. This car was manufactured in Germany and delivered new to Australia through Hamiltons Porsche in Melbourne. The current owner, who came to purchase the car in October 2024, states the service records show just two additional owners. The car runs and idles nicely, though several areas require attention and repair. It appears to have a cam tower leak, the interior light fuse is blown, the heater and AC is not working, the fuel sender is damaged, the tachometer and driver cluster lights are broken, and the central locking doesn’t work. It is lockable with a key, though the automated rear hatch release is broken.

It needs a major service for the belts and hoses, plus bushes need to be replaced among other seals. On presentation, this Porsche 928 appears without major fault or damage. According to the owner there has been no previous accidents. The Royal Blue paint still presents in good order, though finer points of scratching and swirl marks are noted around areas such as the door handles and bonnet. The windscreen surrounds show wear and tear. There is a cracked rear-left tail-light lens and paint transfer marks on the right-side door trims. Wheels show light wear and tear marks.

Interior-wise, this 928 presents well. The seats appear with no obvious deformation or stains, while the dashboard contains no cracks. The door panels and centre console stack both show without noticeable wear, though some speaker covers are missing. The sunroof functions as normal, though often requires a push-close for a complete seal. A suite of original documentation will be provided with this car, in addition to recent service records. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding.
