This 1985 Jaguar XJ-SC is a rare targa-roof cabriolet, believed to be one of just 191 delivered new to Australia. It is powered by a 5.3-litre V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, finished in Signal Red over a beige interior. The odometer currently indicates 288,626 km*.

Introduced in 1983, the XJ-SC was a limited-production cabriolet variant of Jaguar’s XJ-S grand tourer. Featuring removable targa roof panels and a folding rear hood, it provided open-air motoring while retaining the refinement of the XJ-S coupe. Built in relatively small numbers, the XJ-SC is now one of the rarest body styles in Jaguar’s modern history, with Australian-delivered examples especially scarce.

This example is believed to have had around five owners in total. Records suggest four owners up to 2002, after which the car was placed in storage until being recommissioned in 2015 and registered on club plates. The current custodian has held the car since and reports it remains in strong running condition.

The service history includes books stamped up to 40,000 km and some scattered receipts thereafter. Original purchase documentation is included, along with the warranty certificate and radio cassette handbook. In the last two years, the fuel tank has been cleaned and re-bladdered, injectors replaced, and the fuel system flushed completely. The current owner has completed most servicing themselves.

The exterior presents very well in Signal Red. A small repair is noted on the rear quarter panel, but it remains tidy overall with no evidence of major accident damage. Chrome and trim present consistently with the car’s age and mileage.vInside, the beige cabin shows well, with original upholstery, trim, and switchgear intact. The removable roof panels and targa configuration remain functional, and the car is described as comfortable and presentable throughout.

Mechanically, the V12 engine is reported to drive strongly with ample power. A slight oil leak is present from the power steering rack, otherwise the car is described as running well.

This XJ-SC will be supplied with its original tool kit, spare tyre cover, books, manuals, and documentation.
