This 1976 Leyland Moke is an Australian-delivered example showing in restored condition with an eye-catching colour combination. It is powered by a 1.0-litre four-cylinder engine which sends 29kW to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer of this car currently indicates 59,370km from new. Far from its original intentions as a military vehicle, the Leyland Moke is best known as a lovable beach buggy. It was designed by the same Sir Alec Issigonis who created the original Mini, however its low ground clearance and tiny wheels quickly proved a problem for its off-road designation.

Leyland then pivoted to a recreation-based car, which ferried beach-goers with relative affordability and simplistic reliability. The fun-loving character of the Moke is favoured for its utilitarian styling and open-air interior which is perfectly suited to hot summer days and coastal cruising. Like the original Mini, the Moke was manufactured in Australia and exported to a variety of markets worldwide before production ended in 1993. This example is painted with blue exterior bodywork and features a black vinyl-upholstered interior. This car also comes with a black soft-top roof.

The car remains in original condition aside from a set of aftermarket 13-inch Superlite aluminium wheels wrapped in Rapid P309 tyres. The exterior is accented by grey/silver exterior trim, while an SAAS steering wheel is found inside the interior. Fresh from a recent total rebuild in 2020, this Australian-made Moke has undergone extensive works to present in fully-restored condition. The build is based on a low mileage Moke which went unused for more than 20 years, but uses all new parts including rust repairs to the body, new brake system, new clutch, new interior, and a resprayed exterior. It has never been in an accident and the owner notes the original engine runs strong and remains reliable.

The exterior has been professionally resprayed in two-pack blue paint, which shows in excellent order throughout. The paint reflects beautifully in the sun, while all exterior trim presents in complete condition too. The body was reinforced with steel rust repairs and the underside chassis components are painted in POR15. The soft-top roof is also in tidy condition. No obvious curb rash or damage is seen on the four wheels, while the tyres are new.

The interior has also benefitted recently from restoration, with a new set of Californian-style seats up front and new upholstery for the rear row. The floor is covered with thick wash-out rubber and the interior lighting has been converted to LED. The dash shows in good order, also featuring a working heater for cold mornings. The car has recently been fitted with a new windscreen.
