This 1974 Mercedes-Benz (C107) 350 SLC is an Australian-delivered classic that presents with continuous maintenance and an eye-catching colour combination. Under its bonnet sits a naturally-aspirated 3.5-litre V8 engine that produces 147kW and 286Nm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox. The odometer of this car currently shows 355,242km. The R107-generation Mercedes-Benz is one of the most revered iterations of the brand’s legendary SL model line. Famed for its ability to blend suave looks, luxurious interior appointments, and a sporty driving experience, the R107 SL has its place in Stuttgart’s history as an icon. The SLC (designated C107) was the hard-top version intended to satisfy the US market’s desire for a sports coupe.

The C107 has a fixed roof and seating for four people and was offered with several engine options. This 350-engined example is a high-end car that specifies a powerful V8 engine for a dynamic driving experience. The unique pillarless SLC design wasn’t always a winner according to Mercedes-Benz aficionados, however, with fewer produced over a shorter production cycle, the SLC is tipped by enthusiasts to become a must-have classic in years to come. This gold-over-cream colour combination appears as though it’s rolled straight out of the 1970s. The exterior is distinguished by chrome elements to signify the car’s status in Mercedes’ line-up, while its full cream leather interior is a stand out. The owner has replaced the standard radio with a Pioneer head unit and the car now has a Luisi woodgrain steering wheel/gear shifter. The owner states it also has an Apple CarPlay-compatible head unit with reversing camera.

The car rides on a set of 14-inch body-coloured wheels wrapped in A-Plus whitewall tyres. Manufactured in Stuttgart, Germany and delivered new to Grand Motors in Southport, QLD, this C107 has been owned by approximately four owners in total. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2015 and has had it serviced with Banksia Motors in Byron Bay, NSW. Prior servicing was completed through a variety of Mercedes-Benz dealerships and independents. The car has recently had new suspension installed, new front end tie rods and ball joints, new steering box, new alternator, new seat belts, and new brakes. According to the owner, the air-conditioning needs re-gassing and the stereo needs to be refitted. The external presentation of this Mercedes-Benz is fair, with respect to its odometer.

The gold paintwork appears in clean condition without major deformation, though some swirl marks and fine scratches could be improved. There are minor scratches on the bonnet and the chrome has tarnished with age. The windscreen has some stone chips. Surface rust can be seen on the underside, while rust also appears to have eaten through the side skirts near the rear wheels and on the rear-side window. According to the owner the rear window is ageing. Dents are seen in the chrome surrounding the hub cap wheels. Inside, this SLC appears in good order.

The cream leather seats show no obvious stains or marks and the seats continue to show a good shape. The rear seat bench shows a small nick in the leather. Some minor discolouration is observed in the headlining, though the carpeting and floor mats present without scuffs. No obvious wear and tear is noted on the door panels or dashboard. All accompanying documentation and gear will be supplied with this vehicle. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding.
