This 1974 Holden Torana SL/R 5000 (LH) is a numbers-matching example built at GM-H's Dandenong plant on 30 September 1974, accompanied by a Holden Historical Services Vehicle Production Report and the original purchase receipt. Power comes from the factory 5.0-litre V8 (148kW/200hp), backed by the correct M21 2.54:1 first gear hi-performance four-speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 80,319km (TMU).
The LH Torana SL/R 5000 represents the pinnacle of the LH range, combining the 308 cubic inch V8 with a purpose-built performance chassis featuring rack and pinion steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a 2.78:1 limited-slip differential. Produced in relatively small numbers during 1974 and 1975, the SL/R 5000 has long held a prominent place in the Australian collector market as one of the definitive local performance cars of the era.
The car is finished in factory Absinth Yellow with the correct Chestnut cloth and vinyl interior trim combination, as confirmed by paint code 1886-66X on the firewall plate. The interior retains the original herringbone-pattern cloth seat inserts with chestnut vinyl bolsters, matching door trims, and the period four-spoke steering wheel. The car presents in all-original specification with no modifications or aftermarket fitment noted. The firewall plate further confirms engine code L31 and transmission code M21, consistent with the Holden Production Report.
According to the Holden Historical Services Vehicle Production Report, this vehicle was built to order through the Victorian Zone Office and sold new in October 1974 through Active Service Motors Pty. Ltd. of Roma, Queensland. The seller reports the car has had three previous owners. The seller has owned the vehicle for approximately six months and advises that the engine, gearbox, and differential are all original and numbers-matching. Servicing has been carried out mostly by the seller, including work performed by the proprietor of a specialist restoration workshop. In November 2025 the front brakes were overhauled, a new master cylinder was fitted, and a new radiator was installed.
The exterior was fully stripped and resprayed in Absinth Yellow in 2009. The seller reports no accident history and no rust. The interior retains its original trim throughout. The seller advises all mechanical systems are in good working order. Included with the sale are the Holden Historical Services Vehicle Production Report, the original purchase receipt, registration papers from previous owners, the original jack, two sets of keys, and the original Holden authorisation sheet.
