This 1973 Chevrolet (C3) Corvette is a completely original example that has resided in Australia for over a decade. Power is drawn from a naturally-aspirated 350 cubic inch (5.7-litre) V8 that produced upwards of 149kW (200hp). Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer of this car shows 20,005 miles. The C3-generation Chevrolet Corvette was the longest-running iteration in the nameplate’s history and is arguably one of the most iconic. It took its styling from the show-stopping Mako Shark II concept car and applied these design details to a striking production version.

Notably, it was the car of choice for the first three astronauts to land on the moon’s surface. Many of the engines and chassis components were a carry-over from the C2 Corvette, but the styling inside and out was all new. Together with the Chevrolet Camaro muscle car, Chevrolet was at the top of its game at the end of the 1960s and it rode that momentum right through the 1970s with successive updates to the Corvette. Today, the C3 Corvette is considered an investment-grade classic car and sorted examples are particularly sought-after on the used market. This car’s colour combination is classic Corvette – red paint over black upholstery inside the cabin. There are various chrome accents to highlight the exterior, while silver contrasting trims are found inside.

All C3 Corvette coupes are targa tops with a removable roof, which remains a handy feature for open-air motoring. There are no aftermarket modifications on this car, aside from the items required for Australian compliance such as Australian-spec seat belts, a rear-exit exhaust, new side mirrors and brake lines. It rides on a set of 15-inch wheels wrapped in Gillette Sprint G/T tyres. Manufactured in the United States and delivered new within its home market, this Corvette was restored at some point during the 1980s. The current owner has held the vehicle for 10 years and had a third party secure the car from a fastidious owner based in the US. The car runs in good condition; all servicing has been performed by the owner himself over the last 10 years.

The exterior condition of this Corvette is very fair for its age. The red paint appears without obvious fade and the chrome bumpers are equally shiny. However, some body panels show swirl marks and holograms – these could be improved with a detail and polish. Light stone chips are identified on the front end and some paint imperfections are seen on the driver-side front quarter panel. No obvious damage or kerb rash is noted on the four wheels. Inside, this Corvette appears in good order.

There is no major sagging seen on the two seats, while the fabric has held up well to wear and tear. No scuffs or stains are identified on the carpeting and the headlining is similarly unmarked. The car appears to be missing some of its under-dash protection. All accompanying documentation and service invoices will be supplied with this Corvette. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars.

This vehicle is currently unregistered. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
