This 1970 Holden HT Kingswood sedan is a well-kept Aussie icon that has undergone a complete interior and exterior restoration. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 186 cubic inch (3.0-litre) inline-six-cylinder “Red Motor” engine that sends power to the rear wheels. It is equipped with a three-speed manual gearbox. The odometer of this car currently shows 53,244 miles. Holden’s HT line-up included something for everyone. Designed to bring the brand into the 1970s and built as a refreshing overhaul of the preceding HK Holden, the HT brought new grille designs, new tail-light clusters, a wider rear window, and flatter rear flanks compared to its predecessor.

Mechanical changes included a wider track width, revised suspension, a new instrument panel, and synchromesh on all manual-gearbox cars. Various body styles and trim grades were offered: there were sedans, wagons, vans and utes, and of course – the Monaro. Engine options were plentiful too, including this mid-grade Kingswood specification featuring the locally-manufactured “Red Motor”. Even after just one year on sale, Holden sold more than 180,000 units. In today’s market, the HT Holden continues to invoke the Australiana spirit and clean examples have appreciated in value. Painted light green on the outside and featuring brown vinyl for the cabin upholstery, this car’s specification is a byproduct of its era.

The roof is painted two-tone white, while chrome bumpers and trim are seen around the bodywork. The owner has fitted an aftermarket (original look) radio, power steering, and near-new whitewall tyres that surround a set of 14-inch chrome hubcaps. Manufactured in Australia in mid-1970 and delivered new locally, this HT Holden has lived a pampered life and shows a relatively low odometer. The current owner has held the vehicle since April this year, selling only due to medical reasons. According to the owner, the car previously underwent a full rotisserie restoration – including a refurbished motor – and the car has barely been driven since. This car’s restoration has done wonders for its external presentation with next to no marks of wear and tear.

The green paintwork glosses nicely in the light, while the two-tone white roof shows no paint imperfections. Some stone chip damage is noted beneath the front bumper but the bumpers themselves are polished to a shine. Some very subtle dents are seen in some of the hubcaps, though they continue to shine in good order otherwise. Inside the cabin, this HT Holden appears in brilliant condition. The front bench seat shows no marks of tears or scuffs, while the vinyl fabric pulls taut over the cushion. Light marks are seen on the dashboard plate and some wear and tear is noted on the instrumentation and controls.

The carpeting and headlining continue to present without stains or scuffs. All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this car, including original manuals. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This vehicle is currently registered in NSW until 14/1/25. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
