This 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe is a factory right-hand drive, numbers-matching example finished in its original colour combination and powered by a 4.2-litre inline-six engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows 42,205 miles.* The Series 2 E-Type was introduced in 1968, featuring improved cooling, updated lighting, and refined braking and emissions systems, while retaining the classic long bonnet, low stance, and 4.2-litre straight-six that made the E-Type an icon. Often regarded as the most usable and best-balanced version of the E-Type range, Series 2 examples have grown steadily in demand — especially those with documented restorations and subtle drivability upgrades.

Since the current owner's acquisition in 2020, the car has travelled approximately 200 miles, used only for occasional weekend outings. Supporting documents include a vehicle condition report by WC Automotive, repair invoices from Cathouse Jaguar, and consistent service history from Classic Car Clinic and Goodyear Auto Care. Prior to the current ownership, the E-Type underwent a mechanical overhaul including suspension, braking system, all fuel and brake lines, hoses, and ancillaries. Since 2020, the owner has maintained the car diligently with two oil changes per year, two differential and gearbox fluid services, and a radiator flush with new coolant completed in March 2025. The front brake calipers were reconditioned and all fluids replaced. In 2023, the original cylinder head was deemed unrepairable and was replaced with a reconditioned unit sourced from Peninsula Jag.

The original cylinder head is included in the sale. The seller notes the car runs beautifully. The engine starts and idles smoothly, with no knocks, ticks, or differential noise. The gearbox shifts cleanly, with the only minor observation being a slight noise in first gear consistent with age-related wear. This does not impact drivability and the car is described as a pleasure to drive. The seller also notes that the car presents very well cosmetically.

Under current ownership, only minor cosmetic touch-ups have been performed, including stone chip repairs and a full three-stage 3M cut and polish. A small stone chip remains on the windscreen, though it is difficult to detect, and the rear hatch door lock currently requires a return spring to function — it must be manually released. Inside, the seller notes the interior presents in excellent condition overall. The car has been fully retrimmed using a Moss Interior Kit, with only minor imperfections noted: the passenger sun visor would benefit from replacement and the driver’s door armrest could use refinishing. All other interior components present cleanly and show minimal wear. A number of subtle and reversible upgrades have been made for improved reliability and drivability.

These include the replacement of the original heater box with an under-dash air-conditioning unit, a custom air filter housing, stainless steel extractors and exhaust system, a high-torque starter motor, upgraded alternator, SU electronic fuel pump, and new fuel tank sender. The seller has retained some of the original components, including the starter motor, alternator, heater box, fuel pump and the original cylinder head, which are all included in the sale. This E-Type will be sold with an extensive history file containing parts invoices, service records, and restoration documentation. It is a well-presented, enthusiast-owned example of one of Jaguar’s most iconic models, combining classic styling with reliability-focused enhancements.
