This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS has undergone a comprehensive MPW Performance build and is fully engineered for Victorian registration. It is powered by a modified 6.2 litre supercharged LSA V8, reported to produce 330 kW (443 hp) at the rear wheels, paired with a manually shifted Turbo 400 automatic transmission driving the rear wheels through a custom differential and tailshaft. The odometer currently displays 1,470 km* TMU.

The Chevelle was introduced by Chevrolet for the 1964 model year, with the second generation arriving for 1968 with substantially revised styling and a shorter wheelbase. Available in a range of body styles and specifications, the Chevelle became one of Chevrolet’s best known intermediate models and a prominent platform within the American muscle car era.

Originally finished in red and configured as a six seat, column shift car, this California built example was later painted black before receiving its current matte grey exterior wrap. The build includes blacked out exterior chrome, LED headlights, a three inch custom stainless steel exhaust with black rear mufflers, coilover suspension front and rear, Wilwood brakes, power steering and air conditioning. The engine bay has been extensively customised, while Haltech engine management and a Haltech digital display have also been installed. Inside, it features a custom Nappa leather interior, custom dashboard and centre console, electrically adjustable Monaro front seats and a Morel audio system.

Imported from the United States in 2016, the vehicle has remained with its first Australian owner since arrival. The complete build was undertaken by MPW Performance between 2018 and 2021, with approximately 1,400 km reportedly travelled since its completion. The vehicle has continued to be serviced by MPW Performance in Keysborough, and build photographs and receipts are retained.

The seller describes the black paint beneath the wrap and the matte grey exterior finish as being in excellent condition, together with the wheels, trim and custom interior. No current mechanical faults have been reported; however, the fuel gauge is stated not to operate. The vehicle is represented as having been fully engineered for its modifications.

Included with the vehicle are one key and a range of retained components removed during the build, including the original seats, air conditioning unit, headlights, brakes, mirrors, trims and mouldings, together with other corresponding original parts. The Victorian registration plates SSGM68 are also included.
