This 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 has been fully restored and customised as an Eleanor tribute, inspired by the movie Gone in 60 Seconds. It is powered by a 438ci Dart V8 paired with a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission, finished in grey with black striping over a black interior. The odometer currently indicates 59,593 miles*.

First introduced in 1964, the Ford Mustang quickly became an American icon, with the first-generation cars cementing their reputation for performance and style throughout the 1960s. The GT500 variant, developed by Carroll Shelby, became the ultimate expression of the Mustang’s performance pedigree. Today, Eleanor tribute cars are among the most recognisable custom Mustangs in the world, blending classic muscle car presence with modernised mechanical upgrades.

This example was purchased in California in 2010 and imported to Australia, before undergoing a full rotisserie restoration at St Marys Prestige in 2011. The car was acid dipped and rebuilt from the ground up, then registered for the first time locally in Sydney following completion. It has remained with the same custodian since, enjoyed sparingly on the road.

In 2013, the drivetrain was upgraded extensively, beginning with a larger radiator and twin Spal electric fans, followed by an MSD 6AL ignition system. The engine is now a brand new 351 Dart block stroked to 438ci, built by BK Race Engines and featuring a Scat crank, Diamond pistons, AFR 225 heads, Yella Terra roller rockers, and a Victor Junior mid-rise manifold. Within the last week, the carburettor was upgraded to a new 750 Holley unit and the car has been professionally dyno tuned for performance and reliability. Power is delivered through a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed gearbox with a Mal Wood hydraulic twin-plate clutch, custom tailshaft and shortened 9-inch differential. Braking has been upgraded to four-wheel discs. The seller notes the rear tyres are close to needing replacement.

The exterior presents in good overall condition, with some stone chips to the front bumper, minor scratches on the side scoops and rear bumper and a small rust spot the size of a 10-cent coin on the passenger inner door pillar, described as minor and easily repaired. Eleanor-style details include side-exit exhausts with electric dumps, custom side mirrors and relocated side fuel filler.

Inside, the cabin features custom GT500 shifter with “Go Baby Go” button, GT500 pedals, Shelby floor mats, Dynamat underlay, and new plush carpet. The stereo system is presented as original but has been upgraded with modern digital internals, USB connectivity and a hidden Pioneer head unit in the glovebox linked to an amplifier, four speakers and a subwoofer. The dashboard has been restored with no cracks and the door panels have been replaced. A minor tear is present on the driver’s seat.

This Mustang will be supplied with a history file including receipts from its restoration and subsequent maintenance.
