This 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible features a 289 V8 engine and a blue and cream interior. The vehicle benefits from a recent overhaul. Featuring a naturally aspirated V8 engine, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The odometer currently shows 14,252 miles* TMU.
Ford introduced the Mustang in April 1964, combining compact proportions with a long bonnet, short rear deck and a wide choice of engines and equipment. The convertible formed part of the original range alongside the hardtop. For 1966, the Mustang retained its first-generation body shape while receiving revised exterior detailing and a five-dial instrument cluster as standard.
Finished in blue with a contrasting light-coloured soft top, this example features chrome bumpers, bright exterior trim and aftermarket multi-spoke alloy wheels. The left-hand-drive cabin has blue and cream bucket seats, matching door trims, blue carpets, a centre console and a floor-mounted automatic selector. Equipment includes power steering and a CD player, while the engine bay features a chrome air cleaner and Cobra-branded rocker covers. The photographed identification records describe a Metuchen-built A-code convertible, originally specified with a four-barrel 289 V8. The door plate records Ivy Green Metallic paint, Parchment with Ivy Gold trim, a C4 automatic transmission and a 3.00:1 rear axle ratio, distinguishing its factory specification from the colours and components now fitted.
The seller has owned the Mustang for approximately two years. An invoice from Vintage & Classic Garage in Dandenong South, dated 9 August 2025 and totalling $12,898.05, documents substantial mechanical work. This included reconditioning the automatic transmission, replacing strut-rod bushes and outer tie-rod ends, steering-column and coupling work, and a wheel alignment. The invoice also records fabrication of plates and gussets and welding to chassis components, without identifying the underlying reason for that work. Further attention included replacement and remounting of brake hoses, brake-line modifications, revised exhaust hangers and replacement of the rear tailpipe mufflers with straight pipe. Instrument work included replacement warning-light globes and a replacement temperature sender and second-hand gauge.
Included with the sale are a spare key, a spare wheel and receipts.
