This 1966 Chevrolet (C2) Corvette Stingray is a gorgeously-presented three-owner example which has received thorough maintenance during its life. Under the bonnet sits a naturally-aspirated V8 engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox. The odometer of this car currently shows 66,000km. In the 1950s General Motors revealed the ground-breaking Chevrolet Corvette C1 convertible. While that car was impressive in its own right and commands huge premiums on the used market today, most Corvette fans appreciate the later C2 Corvette as the most desirable. The C2 Corvette’s design was inspired by the Sting Ray concept, a racing prototype with sleek bodywork and (now iconic) pop-up headlights.

Many of its concept attributes were ported over to the real C2 Corvette production car. In terms of driving, the C2 Corvette is known for its vastly-improved handling qualities (compared to the C1) and its stronger brakes. Much like its Ford Mustang rival, the Chevrolet Corvette underwent changes every model year which addressed everything from interior equipment, to engine upgrades, and styling tweaks. That’s why later model year examples are particularly sought after. Painted in metallic blue with a black leather-upholstered cabin, this Corvette’s specification is a product of its era and it continues to make an impression today. The car was originally yellow before the current owner resprayed the vehicle to its current hue.

There are few aftermarket upgrades to speak of, aside from a Hurst shifter and linkages as well as Auto Meter gauges (metric format). It rides on a set of 15-inch wheels with knock-off hubs, which come wrapped in BF Goodrich tyres. This Corvette was manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky and has been under the current owner’s care for the last 12 years. The owner states he is likely the third owner overall, but can’t be certain. Little information is known about its service history; the owner states it has been maintained by a private specialist mechanic in Moorabbin, Victoria. It is said to operate in fine mechanical condition, without fault or issue.

Exterior condition displays to a very high standard, especially given this example’s age. Blue paintwork shines brightly in the sun, while chrome detailing gleans brightly without tarnishing. Minor marks of stone chipping are seen at the front end and bonnet, though this is commensurate with age and use. All four wheels display no kerb rash or obvious wear and tear, while the BF Goodrich tyres are near new. Inside, this Corvette’s cabin is immaculately presented. The black vinyl upholstery shows minimal signs of sagging or creases, while lap sash seatbelts display without fraying.

The dashboard, door trims, and centre console surrounds all display without noticeable wear and tear. The woodgrain steering wheel appears in fine order. The owner notes the interior is missing one kick panel and the quarter windows need attention due to a worn mechanism. As per Trading Garage’s Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage have completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research, they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This vehicle is currently registered in VIC until 30/08/2024.

There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
