This 1965 Morris Mini Deluxe is a three-owner car that presents in great condition thanks to a respray and interior overhaul. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1275cc (1.3-litre) four-cylinder motor that sends power to the front wheels. This car features a four-speed manual transmission. Its odometer currently displays 1,233km. The Mini might be best known as a British classic, but fewer people realise the iconic model was also manufactured in Australia. Australians love the small practical nature of the go-kart-like hatchback and its economical small-capacity engine came at the perfect time when wallets were tight.

A select group of Minis, including this car for sale, were manufactured in Australia between 1959 and 1970. The Mini is loved for its nimble handling character – with four wheels at the extreme corners of its square wheelbase – which also maximised interior space. The Morris Mini Deluxe is an affordable way to enter classic Mini ownership, with clean examples such as this one becoming an increasingly rare find. Finished in red with a contrasting white roof, this Morris Mini Deluxe still looks sharp on the street today. The Deluxe specification is distinguished by hydroeleastic suspension, wind-up windows, and bucket seats. The interior is upholstered with tidy beige vinyl trim, while a roof basket, quad spot lights, leather bonnet tie-downs, and underbody protection are seen around the outside.

The owner states the vehicle has been fitted with a new exhaust system with twin outlets, a front brake upgrade, and accentuated wheel arches. It rides on a set of 12-inch Minilite wheels wrapped in Falken Ziex tyres. This Mini was manufactured in the Sydney-based factory and was delivered new locally. The current owner has held the vehicle for roughly six months; prior to that it was owned by the same person for over 20 years. During its previous ownership the car underwent a respray and its carpeting and vinyl were replaced. It has also had its engine rebuilt within the last ten years, according to the owner.

The car has spent much of its history in Sydney, with the most recent service occurring in December 2023. The exterior presentation of this Mini shows in great order with respect to its age. The red paintwork continues to gloss nicely in the light without imperfections, as does the white roof. Some light weathering can be seen around the front grille and spotlight bracket, and surface rust is noted on the backside of the spotlights themselves. Some paint has chipped from the driver’s side door hinge. Wheels show in good order, though some light wear and tear are seen around the outer rims.

Interior-wise, this Mini has fared well over the course of 60 years. The vinyl seats display in nice shape with no obvious tears, stains, or splits. No damage is noted in the carpeting, though it has suffered significant staining. Likewise, the white dash panel appears with scuffs and chips. The seller notes a weak passenger-side door seal. All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this car.
