This 1964 Volkswagen Supa Sport Mk1 Beach Buggy is advised by the seller to be a Mk1 Supa Sport built by the Hooper Bros in Brisbane during the 1960s. It has undergone a ground up rebuild over the seller’s ownership, with work completed with the assistance of Air Cooled on the Sunshine Coast. Power comes from a rebuilt 1.6 litre air cooled flat four with twin 40 mm carburettors and a cannon exhaust, driving the rear wheels through a four speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 90,414 kilometres and is noted as TMU.

Volkswagen based beach buggies became popular through the 1960s and 1970s, using Beetle mechanicals as the basis for lightweight open body recreational cars. Their simple air cooled drivetrains, shortened floorpans, and fibreglass style bodies made them a popular choice for beach use, club activity, and weekend motoring. The Supa Sport Mk1 follows this tradition, combining Volkswagen running gear with open two seat presentation, exposed wheels, simple weather protection, and period inspired sports car styling.

This example is finished in Ferrari Canna di Fucile gunmetal grey with a stripe and Antique Red seats. It is fitted with a shortened Volkswagen floorpan, black exterior frame work, exposed headlamps, a low windscreen, black steel wheels, BF Goodrich tyres, front drop spindles with disc brakes, coilover rear suspension, and a MOMO steering wheel. The seller advises the build uses a replacement 1641 cc engine, twin 40 mm carburettors, a cannon exhaust, new wiring, new brakes, and a replacement older pan that they describe as having no rust.

The seller advises they have owned the car for around five years and purchased it as an incomplete project requiring a complete ground up rebuild. The rebuild is said to have been completed with the assistance of Air Cooled on the Sunshine Coast. The seller states the car was last serviced in March 2026 at 90,250 kilometres, with work including balancing the carburettors, setting the timing, and replacing the engine oil and filter. The most recent roadworthiness inspection is noted as having been conducted on 13 October 2025, with an advisory for stone chips on the subframe.

The seller advises there are no current or recurring faults known to them. The exterior is noted as having stone chips and some gravel rash, while the interior carpets and trim are described as good.
