This 1964 Ford Fairlane is a two-tone example finished in Switchblade Silver and Chrysler Garnet respray, powered by a 302 cubic inch Windsor V8 sourced from an XW Ford, backed by a modified automatic transmission. The odometer reads 29,074 miles TMU.
The Ford Fairlane occupied a distinct position in the early Australian Ford lineup, positioned above the standard Falcon as a longer, more luxuriously appointed alternative that drew on the style cues of its American namesake while retaining the local platform. Introduced in 1964 as a single model year offering, the Fairlane brought a longer wheelbase, additional rear legroom, and a more elaborately trimmed interior to the XM Falcon architecture. Today, genuine first-generation Australian Fairlanes are scarce survivors, and well-presented examples attract strong interest from collectors of early Australian Ford history.
This example is finished in a two-tone combination of Switchblade Silver over Chrysler Garnet. The seller advises the body was resprayed in this combination and that rust was identified and addressed during that process, with affected areas removed and plated. The interior features burgundy cloth and vinyl upholstery with a period dashboard and instrumentation. The seller advises the vinyl sections of the seats require attention, with a roll of matching vinyl supplied with the car, and that a rip is present in the headlining. A Ford Mustang branded three-spoke steering wheel is fitted, and a new rear window Venetian blind has been fitted. The car rides on 15-inch alloy wheels with current tyres.
The seller has owned the car for seven years, during which time it came to them from Victoria with Queensland plates. The engine has been upgraded from the original 289 cubic inch unit to a 302 cubic inch Windsor V8 sourced from an XW Ford, fitted with a Lumpy cam, Edelbrock high-rise intake manifold, Holley Street Avenger 650 carburettor, electronic distributor, new extractors, and a 2.5-inch twin exhaust system. The transmission has been modified and the front brakes upgraded to disc with a remote booster. The front suspension has been lowered with heavy-duty springs, a rear sway bar added, and the front sway bar upgraded. The respray and restoration work was completed approximately two years ago. The most recent service was completed in December 2025 by G.E.S Performance. Some parts receipts are included with the sale.
The seller advises the body and paint present at approximately 8.5 out of 10 with no rust currently present. The seller reports the car is in good mechanical condition with no known faults.
This Ford Fairlane will be sold with some parts receipts, a roll of matching vinyl, and some spare parts.
