This 1963 Porsche 356B Super 90 Coupe (T6) is a matching-numbers, Karmann-bodied example that has been comprehensively restored and presents in excellent condition throughout. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder 'Super 90' engine producing 67kW (90hp), mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently reads 95,845 miles, listed as TMU.
The Super 90 represents the pinnacle of the 356B range. Its engine package achieved performance gains through a 9:1 compression ratio, higher-lift camshaft, improved internal oiling, and larger twin Solex carburettors, making it 50% more powerful than the standard car. The 1962 T6 body revision brought a larger boot opening, external fuel filler door, redesigned instrument cluster, and distinctive twin-grille engine lid. Today, matching-numbers Super 90 examples in T6 specification are among the most coveted of all 356s on the collector market.
This car is finished in Oslo Blue over a red leather interior. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the car left the factory in Ivory (code 6204) with a black leatherette interior, with the current colour combination applied during restoration. The interior features correct-type headrests, a gloss black steering wheel with aluminium spokes, a blue-painted dash fascia, and correct square-weave carpets. No aftermarket modifications are fitted. The car rides on factory ventilated chrome wheels wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres.
Completed on 27 May 1963 at the Karmann factory and delivered new in the United States, this 356B spent much of its life in California. The Certificate of Authenticity confirms matching-numbers engine (no. P*0800775*) and transmission (no. 64963). A comprehensive restoration was completed in August 2017, during which the car was fully disassembled and all original sheetmetal retained. Competition Engineering of Lake Isabella, CA, rebuilt the engine and transaxle, while the interior was retrimmed by Autos International of Escondido, CA.
The Oslo Blue paintwork displays good depth with no significant marks or blemishes. Chrome trim was substantially redone during the restoration, though light ageing is noted on the window surrounds, door handles, and boot handle. Lenses, lighting, and exterior trim all present in excellent condition. All four ventilated chrome wheels appear without dent or damage.
The interior presents beautifully, with excellent workmanship and very little evidence of use since restoration. Red leather on the seats, dash pad, door panels, and rear firewall shows no scuffs or wear. The headliner, sun visors, and square-weave carpets are all in excellent order. Instrumentation presents with clear dial faces. Light patina is noted on the vent control trim and steering wheel centre emblem.
This 356B will be supplied with its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a comprehensive file of restoration invoices, original jack, tools, a Messko tyre pressure gauge, technical books, camber compensator, spare parts, and an original California licence plate.
