This 1960 MG MGA is a restored roadster accompanied by restoration records and retained by its current owner since 2013. It is powered by a naturally aspirated inline four, identified by its recorded engine number as the 1.6 litre B-series type, paired with a manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The odometer currently shows 6,728 miles* TMU.

The MGA entered production in 1955, introducing flowing bodywork that departed from the upright styling of MG’s earlier sports cars. Its design drew on the marque’s early-1950s competition prototypes, with a roadster initially offered before a coupé joined the range in 1956. The original 1,489 cc engine was followed by a larger 1,588 cc unit in the MGA 1600 from 1959, with further development continuing until production ended in 1962.

Finished in red, this example features wire wheels with knock-off spinners, chrome bumpers and a black interior with red seat piping. The cabin has a body-coloured dashboard, black carpets, a three-spoke steering wheel and a floor-mounted gear lever. The supplied history describes a conversion from left-hand drive to right-hand drive during restoration. Queensland registration and the PPSR record the vehicle as a 1957 model under identifier B20609, which also appears on the photographed body tag. The registered engine number, 16GAU19248, identifies the later 1,588 cc engine type rather than the 1,489 cc specification offered in 1957.

The seller reports two previous Australian owners, with earlier American ownership otherwise unknown. According to the supplied history, the car was found in a Californian barn around 2005 before being brought to Melbourne for a ground-up restoration. A previous owner known to the seller acquired it around 2008, followed by the current owner in 2013. Servicing has been undertaken privately, and the seller advises that invoices are available for items purchased during their ownership, including a tonneau cover, fuel pump, starter relay switch, thermostat and seatbelts. Photographs and invoices document the earlier restoration.

The seller describes the paintwork and interior as being in good condition and discloses a respray of the front passenger-side mudguard. They advise that the temperature gauge tends to indicate hot running, with an additional cooling fan fitted ahead of the radiator. The Bluetooth radio is reported not to work. When the vehicle was imported into Australia, it was registered using the body number rather than the chassis number, which accounts for the discrepancy in the recorded identification details. Please refer to the British Motor Heritage Trust certificate shown in the image gallery for confirmation and reference.

Included with the sale are a manual, restoration photographs and invoices, a jack and a wire-wheel hammer.

There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against chassis number B20609 and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
