This 1958 Fiat 500 N is an early-build version of Fiat’s iconic hatchback, complete with a gorgeous colour combination and in well-maintained condition. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 479cc two-cylinder engine which develops 9kW (13hp). Power is sent to the front wheels using a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer on this car currently shows 56,084 miles. The Fiat 500 is a charmingly simple light hatchback that always earns admiration for its cute looks and laidback nature. It was introduced in 1957 as the “Nuova 500”, the replacement for the 500 Topolino, with purposeful design intended for tight Italian city streets and an affordable price point for the masses. However, despite its diminutive size, the Nuova 500 was extremely practical and mechanically simple.

This ensured instantaneous sales success throughout Europe. The model was so popular that Fiat kept selling it for nearly 20 years, and several offshoots were created – including a sporty version from Abarth. Early variants, designated Nuova 500 (500 N), are popular for their uncomplicated looks. They can be distinguished by a sunroof, suicide doors, oval-shaped tail-lights, round speedometer, and a Fiat logo with wings at the front. Painted in red and featuring a light tan interior, this Nuova 500’s specification stands out in traffic. The exterior shows chrome and silver trim, while the cabin gets a body-coloured dash and black carpeting.

There are no obvious aftermarket modifications to take away from this example’s originality. However, it does have a dual-port USB input for charging devices. It rides on a set of steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. They come wrapped in whitewall tyres. This Fiat 500 was manufactured in Turin, Italy. The car has recently been passed down to the seller, though it has stayed within the same family for more than a decade.

It is understood to have undergone restoration at some point, though there are no details to support this. In its current ownership, the car has been serviced by Autosprint Motors. Recent repairs included new axle joints, new exhaust manifold and gaskets, and a new driveshaft fitted. The car is said to be in great mechanical condition. This Fiat 500 shows in remarkable exterior condition, considering its age. The red paintwork shines brightly in the sunlight and minimal imperfections are noted upon close inspection.

Some paint bubbling is noted on the lower portions of each door and a light mark is seen above the right headlight. There is no scuff damage seen on the vinyl sunroof which continues to pull taut over the roof. Chrome bumpers are polished to a shine. All four wheels show in fantastic order without dents or damage. Inside its small cabin, this Nuova 500 appears in great stead. The light tan upholstery shows no scuffs or tears.

The seats continue to retain their original shape without creasing and deformation. Carpeting also shows no stains. The painted dashboard and steering wheel contain no scratches or scuffs, while the controls are without wear and tear. All accompanying documentation and receipts will be supplied with this car, as well as the original tool kit, and two keys.
