This 1955 MV Agusta 175 CSTL has been painstakingly restored to its former glory and would be a perfect addition to a collection, or ridden as intended. It is powered by a 175cc four-stroke engine which outputs 6kW (8hp) to the rear wheel. The transmission is a four-speed manual. The odometer currently shows 44,283 kilometres. MV Agusta is one of the world’s most adored motorcycle manufacturers and is particularly prominent among racing circles. The Italian bike-maker collected a series of world championship titles between 1952 and 1974, and a total of 270 individual Grand Prix victories.

Most people appreciate the brand as being exceptionally competitive in the premier 500cc class, but fewer understand that MV Agusta was just as dominant in the sub categories. Their lower-capacity engines simply competed at a higher level than their then-rivals could manage. Racing technology was ported across to its road-going models such as the 175 Series – one of the brand’s most popular. It represented the first time MV Agusta introduced a four-stroke engine to a production bike and was innovative thanks to its overhead camshaft and unitary engine/gearbox construction. Today, vintage MV Agustas are a valuable investment and well maintained examples are particularly sought after.

This MV Agusta 175 features a distinctive black and red colour scheme and is accented by Scuderia Italia stickers on the fuel tank. Engine componentry is finished in silver chrome and the headlight bears a 1959 Rallye Monte Carlo plaque. The rider sits on a red and black vinyl seat. It runs on a set of silver wheels. Manufactured in Italy in 1955, this bike has been refurbished to mint condition – mechanically and visually.

The owner has a comprehensive file of restoration documentation and photos. It is said to run in flawless condition and it sounds fantastic. It is presently unregistered (despite wearing original registration plates) as it has sat as part of a collection for a number of years. The bike is presented to a brilliant, restored standard. The red and black paintwork glosses nicely in the light and there are no stone chip marks or dents to the fuel tank.

The chrome exhaust has been polished to a bright shine. There are no imperfections seen on the vinyl seat which continues to hold a good shape without sagging. Handlebars and grips appear in good order without wear and tear. This MV Agusta will come with restoration records, various spare parts, the original registration, and relevant MV Agusta brochures.
