This 1955 MG TF1500 is a restored roadster featuring a Toyota Celica manual gearbox conversion. Its naturally aspirated 1,466 cc inline four drives the rear wheels, with the TF1500 engine originally factory-rated at approximately 47 kW (63 hp). The odometer currently shows 4,992 miles* TMU.

Introduced in 1953, the TF retained MG’s traditional separate-wing styling while incorporating a lower bonnet line, a sloping radiator grille and headlights integrated into the front guards. The TF1500 followed in 1954, replacing the earlier 1,250 cc engine with the larger XPEG unit. It was the final development of the T-series before the MGA arrived in 1955.

Finished in red with beige upholstery and a matching soft top, this example features wire wheels, chrome bumpers and two auxiliary driving lights. The cabin includes a three-spoke steering wheel, centrally mounted instruments and a concealed aftermarket stereo. The photographed identification plate records car number HDC26/8887 and engine number 2898, the latter agreeing with the PPSR record. The HDC26 code denotes an MG Red, right-hand-drive export specification, originally finished with cellulose paint on the body and synthetic paint on the guards. Current modifications include the Celica gearbox, rear telescopic shock absorbers and seats repositioned further rearward.

The seller is aware of two previous owners and reports that the car underwent a restoration in 2004, including renewal of the interior. The gearbox conversion and seat repositioning were undertaken during that work. Servicing has been carried out with assistance from MG club members, and the car was reportedly used regularly before spending approximately 18 months in storage. A new battery has been fitted.

The seller advises that the vehicle’s equipment operates, including the two front driving lights. Paint deterioration on the front guards is disclosed, along with a front oil seal that drips after driving. The seller reports no known accident history.

Included with the sale are a book, previous sale details and the workshop information described in the seller’s supplied notes.
