This 1950 Jaguar XK120 OTS is an early-production, Australian-delivered right-hand drive Open Two Seater (OTS), finished in Pastel Blue metallic over a red leather interior and showing an indicated 7,159 miles. One of just 1,175 RHD XK120 OTS models built, the car was completed on 6 November 1950 and dispatched to Brylaws, Sydney, arriving in early 1951. It was first registered in Victoria in April 1951 and sold new via Macquarie Motors in Bathurst, NSW.

This particular example boasts documented period motorsport history, having competed in landmark Australian events in the early 1950s. Highlights include entry in the 17th Australian Grand Prix at Mount Panorama in 1952 driven by J.S. Moody (#33), as well as appearances at Fisherman’s Bend in 1952 and 1953 driven by V.A. Moloney. It also featured on the grid for the 1953 Australian Grand Prix Trials at Albert Park, wearing race number 52. The car retains key visual remnants of its motorsport history, including turbo-vented wheels and front brake backing plate cut-outs.

The car was acquired as a project in 1979 and underwent a detailed 20-year nut-and-bolt restoration led by its current owner, a mechanical engineer and life member of the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria. The restoration included a full rebuild of the engine, drivetrain and cosmetics using original and sourced parts. Updates were thoughtfully integrated to improve usability while retaining originality, including a hidden brake booster, halogen headlights, cloth covered Electra Loom wiring with integrated indicators, provisioned wiring for optional fog lamps and a discreet battery isolator switch.

The original matching-numbers 3.4 litre DOHC straight six engine (W2429-7) was fully overhauled and has travelled only around 7,000 miles since completion. It is currently paired with a 5-speed gearbox for improved drivability, while a correct Moss 4-speed gearbox is included in the sale.

The red leather interior remains in beautiful condition throughout with trim, dash, and carpets all presenting to a high standard. Minor signs of age-appropriate wear are consistent with its enthusiast use since completion. The paintwork remains bright and the iconic XK silhouette is complemented by clean body lines and authentic trim.

Included in the sale are the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, vast historical documentation, brand new side curtains, a replica 1950 Jaguar salesman’s book, multiple concours awards and trophies and the commemorative XK-50 number plate from the 1996 Darwin to Alice Springs 1500 km re-enactment event. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an Australian-delivered XK120 with genuine period race history, impressive mechanical pedigree and show level presentation suitable for the discerning collector or marque enthusiast alike.
