This 1931 Ford Model A 5-Window Coupe is a well-presented vintage car with a smart colour combination. It is powered by a 3.3-litre inline-four-cylinder engine which sends 30kW/174Nm to the rear wheels. The car has a three-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows 95,830 miles. The Ford Model A was one of the most popular cars throughout the late 1920s and into the 1930s. After Ford’s success with the Model T, its competitors – particularly General Motors – began to improve their own production lines with new product featuring more powerful engines, new convenience features, and stylistic flair.

Ford’s sales teams identified the threat and advised Henry Ford to respond with a new replacement model. The Model A was introduced as an all-new car with no carry-over parts and garnered instant attention. The Model A was offered in various body styles and was manufactured all around the world – it was also the first Ford to feature conventional car controls with the standard clutch, gearshift, brake, and accelerator layout. The Ford Model A is popular in hot-rodding circles, but is equally appreciated in clean, complete condition like this example. Painted in black and featuring a brown vinyl interior, this Model A’s colour combination presents suavely. The exterior is adorned with chrome trim and a red pinstripe.

It shows no aftermarket modifications. A black-painted luggage carrier is seen at the rear end. It is a full metal body with a timber floor. The car rides on a set of black wire wheels wrapped in white wall tyres. This Model A has been owned by two people since being imported to Australia. It was imported from California, US.

The current owner purchased the car from Adelaide five years ago. The current owner rarely uses the vehicle, but states it has been serviced twice since he took ownership. A known issue is the fact the car will need a clutch replacement in the future – it slips on occasion. The luggage set has been fully restored and the car underwent a respray before coming to Australia. External condition shows in brilliant order, especially for this car’s age. The black paint presents in a good state with only some light scratches, while the pinstriping is unbroken.

Chrome elements are polished to a shine. The black vinyl roof shows no undue wear and tear. All four wheels appear in good order without wear. Inside the cabin this Model A shows in clean condition. The brown upholstery pulls taut over seat foam and the rear dicky seat appears in perfect condition. The interior has been reupholstered.

The steering wheel shows cracks as expected with use. The headlining and floor mats appear without stains or scuffs. All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this car.
