This 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster is an Australian-delivered example with a complete service history and no modifications. It is powered by a mid-mounted naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine which outputs 471kW/660Nm which has led to the increase in demand globally by enthusiasts and collectors alike. This power is sent to the all four wheels through a six-speed automated manual transmission. The odometer of this car currently shows only 9,968 from new. It was offered to the public from 2001 until 2010 with two main variants (Murcielago and Murcielago LP640), and featured styling by Lamborghini’s head of design from 1998 to 2005, Luc Donckerwolke.
The name is derived from a Spanish Fighting Bull named Murciélago, which means “bat” in Spanish. The first Murcielago was renowned for its ease of use thanks to practical input from Audi. But the Murcielago LP640 upped the ante in 2006, featuring more power out of a larger engine, a noticeable exterior facelift, single-outlet exhaust, revised interior packaging, and an improved e-Gear automatic transmission. The Roadster version of Murcielago LP640 remains one of the most desirable variants and this version continues to be one of the most popular on the used market. Painted in Balloon White with a pearlescent metallic finish, this LP640 features a black leather/Alcantara interior and black exterior highlighting to set-off the colour combination.
There are no aftermarket modifications made to this car, making this untouched example a rare prospect in the age of personalisation. However, it does feature paint protection film. The car currently rides on a set of original 18-inch ‘Hemera’ alloy wheels painted black, while black brake calipers hide underneath. Tyres are Pirelli P Zero units. Manufactured new in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy and supplied new to Australia through Lamborghini Sydney in late 2009, this LP640 Roadster has a documented history.
The current owner acquired the car out of Queensland in 2017 and has owned it in Melbourne since. All servicing in that time has been completed by Lamborghini Melbourne. The last recorded maintenance occurred in September 2022 where it had an annual general service. Its current mechanical condition is said to be faultless, according to the seller. Condition-wise, this LP640 Roadster shows in remarkable order, with respect to its minimal odometer reading.
The Balloon White paintwork displays without noticeable chips, scratches or swirl imperfections, while the reflections out of the finish itself are gorgeous. The owner notes one small mark identified on the passenger side front quarter panel, and the underside of the front bumper displays scraping on the leading edge. One small scratch is seen on the front right wheel; all other wheels are unmarked of damage. Inside the cabin this car has been well preserved throughout. The leather aspects of the steering wheel, dashboard and door cards all show without marks or scuffs.
The seats are clean of stains or tears, though some minor sagging is seen in the fabric. Some nicks in the carbon fibre clearcoat are shown around the centre console arm rest. This car will be supplied with original documentation, service books, a tool set, one key, and a set of Lamborghini gloves.
