This 1983 Ducati Pantah 600SL appears in great condition and wears a striking red-and-white colour scheme. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 583cc four-stroke V-twin engine which sends power to the rear wheel. Power is run through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows 38,343km. The Ducati Pantah heralded a series of wide-ranging improvements for the Italian bike-manufacturer and is recognised as a pivotal model for the brand. Unveiled in 1980 and subsequently updated with larger engines throughout its six-year model run, the Pantah was the first Ducati to incorporate a belt-driven camshaft that formed the basis for its iconic V-twin engine. Its light, short-wheelbase frame was also nimble and had simpler roadholding compared to its predecessors.

However, the initial 500cc versions were quickly derided as underpowered, especially regarding mid-range torque. Ducati’s answer was to develop the 600SL – a more powerful version that addressed the Pantah’s shortcomings by adding power and torque. It also spun-off the first Pantah-based motorsports version – the TT2 racer – though this was a 600cc version. The Pantah 600SL’s uniquely balanced engine internals means vibrations and noise is kept to a minimum. Today, the Pantah is considered a Ducati classic. Painted in white and accented by a red trellis frame, this Pantah 600SL stands out against newer bikes.

It features a black leather seat, period correct pinstriping, and a smoked screen. This specific bike is equipped with modified Ducati race fairings. It rides on a set of 18-inch Ducati wheels wrapped in Metzeler rubber. This bike was manufactured in Italy and complied new in Australia in June 1983. The owner purchased the bike in 2019 and its history prior to that is unknown. However, according to the owner the bike underwent a full motor and gearbox rebuild in 2018.

Since then, it received a basic service in 2023. It is said to run in fine order and starts first time, every time. The bike’s condition shows in fair order – especially for its age. The white paintwork appears without significant scratches or marks, while the frame has not been damaged. According to the owner, there are a few cracks and stone chips. Scratches and scuffs can be seen on the exhaust, wear and tear is noted around the suspension, and some light chips are identified on the fairings.

Normal wear is seen around the grips. All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this sports bike.
