This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 280 SLC (C107) is a UK-import example of a classic Mercedes coupe, understood to have had four owners since new. Under its bonnet sits a naturally-aspirated 2.8-litre inline-six-cylinder engine which produces 136kW and 238Nm. This car is fitted with a four-speed automatic transmission with power sent to the rear wheels. The odometer of this car shows 60,033 miles. Arguably one of the most desirable iterations of the long-running SL nameplate, the R107 generation is characterised by a suave driving character and iconic roadster styling.

The R107’s predecessor achieved considerable success in the United States, prompting Mercedes-Benz to push the boat out even further with the introduction of the SLC (C107). The C107 was the distinct coupe version of the SL-Class, with a fixed hard-top roof and four-person seating. The SLC was offered in several variants featuring a series of engines, but the 280 SLC is the entry-level variant featuring smooth six-cylinder power. The special pillarless SLC design wasn’t always preferable to its drop-top SL alternative, but with fewer produced over a shorter production run the SLC is tipped by enthusiasts to become a must-have classic in years to come. This car’s colour combination sees a silver exterior paired with a green-upholstered cabin.

It features chrome external highlighting and woodgrain trim inserts for the centre console and dashboard surrounds. There are no obvious aftermarket modifications made to the car – it retains its original colour combination. It rides on a set of 15-inch Mercedes five-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli/Tracmax tyres. Manufactured new in Stuttgart, Germany and delivered to the United Kingdom, this car is understood to have had four owners since new. It holds a Queensland compliance plate dated November 1999.

The current owner purchased the vehicle three years ago and the last recorded servicing was completed 15 months ago by European Vehicle Services. It is said to be in good mechanical condition with no known faults, according to the seller. On the outside, this SLC presents in fair order given its age. The silver paintwork appears in decent condition with no major marks, but closer inspection reveals some scratches, scuffs, and chips. There are chips on the bonnet, damaged badges, wear and tear around the side mirrors, cracks/scuffs in the lower bumper, deterioration on the lower splitter, and scratches on the rear spoiler.

There are no major marks of kerb rash noted on the wheels, but light scuffs are noted on some wheel faces. Interior-wise, this car appears in average condition. Much of the green leather is worn on the driver’s seat, while scuffs and discolouration are also seen on the passenger seat and rear bench. The woodgrain inlays have weathered and are beginning to fade. The carpeting and door panels appear in decent condition.

This car will come with all accompanying documentation and two keys. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves with the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
