This 1975 Volkswagen Superbug L 1303 Manual is fitted with a sliding fabric sunroof and has remained within the same family since April 1984. It is powered by a 1.6 litre naturally aspirated air cooled flat four cylinder engine producing 37 kW (50 hp), paired with a four speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The 1303 represented the final major development of the Super Beetle saloon, following the earlier 1302 introduced in 1970. Its MacPherson strut front suspension created additional luggage space and was accompanied by revised steering and front disc brakes, while the 1303 introduced a curved windscreen, padded dashboard and larger rear lights. Australian Superbug L models were equipped with the 1.6 litre engine, with production continuing through the mid 1970s.

Finished in white, this example features a sliding fabric sunroof, chrome bumpers, running boards and Porsche alloy wheels. The interior is trimmed in black and retains the model’s padded dashboard, two spoke steering wheel and floor mounted manual gear selector. A new battery has recently been fitted.

The seller advises that the vehicle was purchased by the family in April 1984 and has since passed between family members. It is now being offered as part of a deceased estate, having been registered in the name of the seller’s late mother. The seller has lived overseas for much of the past 15 years and reports that the vehicle has been driven sparingly and generally stored undercover during that period. Earlier ownership and maintenance records have not been located.

According to the seller, there is minor damage to the driver’s door from a shopping trolley and the speedometer is noisy in operation. Rust is present in sections of the floor pans, with the seller advising that some areas require repair or replacement. The vehicle is offered without a current roadworthy certificate.
