This 1975 Holden HJ Monaro GTS sedan is a well-presented muscle car classic, having undergone significant restoration 12 years ago. Under its bonnet sits a factory-spec 5.0-litre V8 engine which outputs 179kW and 427Nm to the rear wheels. This car specifies a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently displays 82,478km. The Holden HJ Monaro GTS was introduced in 1974 as a more comfortable and beefier-styled replacement to its HQ predecessor. It was offered in both entry-level Monaro LS (distinguished with four headlights) and GTS variants, with the latter also coming in a choice of coupe or four-door body styles.

The four-door GTS featured a prominent grille, wrap-around rear lights, more aggressive side vents, and decals. It was also possible to option a front splitter and rear spoiler, though some prefer a “cleaner” look, as seen on this car. The previous Monaro’s Chevrolet 350 engine had to be detuned to meet pollution regulations in its home market, so Holden boosted its existing 308 to fill the performance gap. These days, the HJ GTS is often regarded as the most distinctive of the four-door Monaros. Painted in Gunmetal Grey on the outside and upholstered with black vinyl and houndstooth inserts, this Monaro GTS is sure to find wide appeal. The owner has done some upgrade work to include a heavy duty clutch, pacemaker Tri-Y extractors with HPC coating, new steel tail shaft, and a reconditioned Holley 750 double-pumper carburettor.

It rides on a set of 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Yokohama tyres. This Holden Monaro GTS sedan was built by Holden in April 1975 and still retains its original owner’s manual. The seller states the vehicle underwent a full restoration in 2012, but retains the factory L31 engine and M21 four-speed transmission. According to the seller, the motor has done approximately 2000km since the restoration in 2012. The car was completely re-wired in 2009 and had new shockers and a bush kit installed in 2023. On the outside, this HJ Monaro shows in excellent condition.

Its paintwork shines beautifully in the sunlight with no notable swirls or scratches, and the chrome trim gleans with polish. Badging and decals have escaped typical wear and tear. There are no major signs of kerb rash damage on wheels, but the rears display some scuffs. Interior-wise, there are no major points of wear and tear. No obvious creases or scuffing is noted on the black vinyl seat bolsters, while the fabric inserts are unstained. The seats themselves continue to hold a good shape.

The car is fitted with an aftermarket shifter and a replacement Pioneer head unit. Dash presentation shows no cracks or scratches in the vinyl and the door panels appear without scuffs. The carpeting and floor mats are unstained. This car will come with original documentation including manuals.
