This 1969 Triumph Vitesse MkII sports car presents in tidy, restored condition, with particular attention paid to its cosmetics and electrics in recent memory. Under the bonnet lies a swapped-in 2.5-litre in-line six-cylinder engine which sends power to the rear wheels. The gearbox in this example is a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently displays 41,665 miles. While Triumph might be best known for selling sports cars like the Spitfire and TR series, the Vitesse is now becoming a cult classic. The Mark II was released in the late 1960s to rival the likes of the MGB and Sunbeam Alpine. However, importantly the Vitesse was quicker than both and managed to fit four seats and a sizeable boot space.

The practicality angle of this sporty convertible is one of its greatest assets. In convertible guise especially, the little-known Vitesse is quickly becoming a favourite with enthusiasts thanks to its simple mechanical nature, abundant parts supply and steadfast reliability. They’re rare to find out on the open road – and on the used car market – so it’s a delightful surprise whenever one turns up in the classifieds or is spotted out on a drive. Finished in the vibrant Signal Red with contrasting white-painted elements to the exterior, this Vitesse turns heads. The colour combination is completed by a black soft-top roof and grey cloth-upholstered interior. Chrome detailing is seen on the outside, while woodgrain trim is inlaid inside the cabin. A set of 13-inch wire wheels are equipped on this car, wrapped in Uniroyal tyres.

This car was manufactured in December 1969 and delivered new to its first English owner. It is number 266 of the last-build convertibles. The car underwent restoration through the 1990s where it received a new 2.5-litre engine and a J-type overdrive with a 3.63 diff. It was imported to Australia in 2010 where it has been owned by just two people since. The current owner has completed fixes to the electrics system, brakes, and gearbox.

Its last major service was completed in June 2022. It now runs extremely well according to the owner however the tachometer cable needs replacing, it is on its way from the UK and will be supplied with the vehicle. Exterior-wise, this 1969 Triumph Vitesse MkII presents very well. Its Signal Red paintwork with white striping is in good order overall, as is the bodywork underneath. Nice reflections can be seen in the paint, though a detail would remove the subtle swirl marks. All badging is period correct. Each wire wheel is in good condition and the rest of the chrome detailing on the body shines nicely.

There seems to be a solid amount of tread remaining on the Uniroyal tyres. Its interior is in similarly great condition. The grey cloth upholstery is in good order overall, and the Walnut woodgrain trim looks spectacular for its age. All Jaeger gauges function as intended and the switchgear all works properly. Some paint is beginning to flake near where the roof joins the windscreen. The polished woodgrain steering wheel is period correct and shows in great condition, too. This car comes with a service history which will be supplied with the sale.
