This 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce is a three-owner car that has benefitted from significant mechanical and cosmetic restoration. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 80kw (108hp). This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer of this car displays 45,836 miles. Before the 1960s, Australians had little knowledge of Alfa Romeo. It wasn’t until the sports-car specialist revealed the 105 Series – and brought it Down Under – that the brand gained the local recognition it deserved.

It was particularly prominent in the Australian Touring Car Championship, notably for its nimble handling character and revvy four-cylinder engine. This Veloce-spec Giulia Sprint is one of the most desirable iterations thanks to its iconic coupe body design, unique Veloce-spec cams, and twin double-barrel Weber carburettors. The model was lightyears ahead of its contemporaries which explains why Alfa 105s are such good driver’s cars even today. Coupled with gorgeous Bertone styling, these classic Alfas still command respectable prices and are expected to rise in value further. Painted in classic white and upholstered with a black vinyl interior, this Giulia Sprint’s colour combination will find wide appeal. The previous owners have been careful to keep the car’s originality, though subtle tweaks see this car fitted with front bonnet louvres and a race-style fuel cap.

Inside, this car is highlighted by walnut veneer trims for the dashboard and it features a blanked radio plate. It rides on a set of 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in Hankook Ventus tyres. Made in Milan, Italy, and delivered new to South Africa, this Alfa Romeo comes with a documented history including extensive restoration receipts and service invoices. It is believed to be a three-owner car overall, with the current owner taking delivery five years ago. Since that time, the car has undergone a full mechanical recommission performed by Alfa specialist Monza Motors in Bayswater, VIC. Before that, the car received a bare metal respray in the 1990s, but retains its original engine and gearbox.

All parts fitted to the car during the current owner’s custodianship have been new, old stock – much of it coming from Classic Alfa or Alfaholics in the UK. It is said to be a turn-key example. Exterior condition is a highlight, with beautiful white paintwork glistening in the sunlight and strong shine from the chrome trim. There are no major imperfections noted on the bodywork, though some stone chips and marks are seen around the front end in particular. Elsewhere, light patina can be seen around the door handles and window surrounds. All four wheels show in excellent condition without kerb rash.

Inside the cabin, this Alfa Romeo shows minimal wear and tear. The bucket seats hold a good shape and no major stains or scuffs are seen in the carpeting. Walnut trim displays without obvious cracking or damage and the switchgear operates as normal. Age-related scuff marks can be seen on the door panels and sill plates. This car will come with its accompanying documentation, original jack, and period tool kit. A full list of parts fitted during its mechanical overhaul can be supplied upon request.
