This 1964 Rover P5 Coupe is a well-documented and characterful example of the British marque’s stately mid-century saloon. Powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine, this P5 sends drive to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently shows 25,055 miles. Launched in the late 1950s, the Rover P5 became known as “the poor man’s Rolls-Royce” for its refined ride, luxurious appointments, and gentlemanly aesthetic. It was the preferred mode of transport for British Prime Ministers, including Harold Wilson and Margaret Thatcher, and its dignified styling was matched by strong reliability and mechanical simplicity.

The later Coupe variants introduced a lower roofline and more rakish profile – a subtle nod to elegance without compromising comfort. Finished in a single-tone paint scheme of Grey-White, this Rover P5 Coupe retains much of its period charm. The exterior is complemented by period-correct chrome trim and polished steel wheel covers. A stainless-steel rear manifold is fitted and the front bumper has been rechromed following a minor front-end repair in the mid-1980s. Otherwise, the car is believed to be in original condition, showing only gentle patina in line with its age.

Believed to be a three-owner car, this P5 was purchased by the current custodian three years ago from a long-term owner – a priest in New South Wales. It is accompanied by an extensive set of documentation including invoices and service records dating back to 1973. This comprehensive paperwork outlines the vehicle’s ongoing maintenance and any work completed across the past five decades. The current owner has kept the car regularly serviced by a classic specialist on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. No major mechanical work has been recently required, though a carburettor tune is noted as the next likely item on the to-do list.

The car was recently driven on a long-distance trip to Ballarat without issue, and it is described as running reliably and attracting attention wherever it goes. Overall, the vehicle presents in very good condition inside and out. The two-tone paintwork appears glossy and consistent, while the chrome elements present with a healthy shine. Panel alignment appears true and no signs of corrosion are mentioned. Inside, the cabin features rich leather seating, woodgrain trim, and plush carpeting.

Wear appears minimal and appropriate for a well-preserved classic of this era. This P5 Coupe will be supplied with a large documentation file, including service history, parts receipts, and ownership records. As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This car is registered in Victoria until 07/06/25.

There are np security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen.
